actually - it means he's already got (what we can agree is a pretty solid) 18% of the vote - his people are fanatics and a lot of people on the right are pissed that romney is a lib, and a lot of people on the left hate obama for his wars and continuation of bush policy.

Ron paul just has to move from 18% to 34% or more to win it.  

IMAGINE the fervor of his base if he is in the race.  jeebus... 33 and I and berzerker and hugo and many others will be out there handing out flyers, you can bet on that

No, it would be a genius move on Ron Paul's part. Imagine this: If Ron Paul doesn't run, the GOP puts out another third-rate Big Government RINO who takes the Presidency and he does everything wrong - doesn't cut spending, in fact expands spending (just like Bush/Obama), follows a retarded foreign policy (just like Bush/Obama), increases the deficit/debt (just like Bush/Obama), worsens the economy (just like Bush/Obama). If Ron Paul does run, he "spoils" the GOP race and Obama gets a second term... Now, the GOP gets the message: choose a SERIOUS Republican who adheres to REAL small-r republican principles or lose every election from here-on out.
