What do you think of this development? CNN has on their front page an article about how the markets have voted against public opinion and that voting is no longer necessary. I can see this as a first step which could ultimately be emulated in the USA and other countries: "We know what's best for you. Obama stays - he is best for the markets"

It's amazing how massive the propaganda machine has become. I don't think even George Orwell expected it to get this bad. Or maybe he did.

The repube excuses for the 2012 debacle have already started.  ::)

Okay so blame the politicians then.  Did you vote for them?

What happened to Iceland and Ireland last year? Both went bust and got bailed out by EuroZone or GB.

But there's nothing left for Greece and Italy's economy is too big.  Blame Bungabunga Berlesc.

There is no money left, every single "rich" country has been faking it for years and there's nothing left, nothing.  The 1% rich have stashed it all in gold in Switzerland.

Or have fled to their private islands with the money we paid them all these years in taxes.

It's now all debt we're left with.

I find that I must blame the bankers.  Someone ought to have done the arithmetic.
But they didn't & and now the world economy is screwed, it's gone and taken a long walk off a short pier.

China and India will step in.
madly

Excellent post.

One objection, though.

China and India will step nowhere, they'll stay where they are.

Oh thank you so much for a laugh out loud, I've not had one for so long.  They get fewer and far between as you get older.  Kisses and hugs, you're so very funny and astute.

And correct.  But without crossing an ocean they'll buy the Acropolis for 1 yen or 100 rupees...

(I think they've already sold that Gladiator Ring (what's it called, that massive Roman thing in Rome, that landmark) to a shoe company?  The Coloseum (sp).  They'll have to sell islands, all their art and who has money nowadays?

China and India.  Maybe they'll just dance though, rather than treading hard.

I hear footfalls, sounds upstairs.

Thanks for keeping it light and making us guffaw.

Politician shit into the economy and the financial market. This is turbo boosted by folks who help to manipulate the market.
It's like rats discussing who is about to repair the engine of the economic ship while the hull has more holes than swiss cheese.

Europe is bringing the whole fucking world down with them because they want to work 20 hours a week, retire at 55 and do jack shit in terms of producing anything of value. Europeans made this mess and now they're crawling around from country to country looking for a handout to keep it going. They're actually begging the Chinese and Brazilians to step in and save them instead of reforming their failed societies.

You know your way of life is a joke when even Communist China lectures you on your lazy, entitled societies (like the PBC guy did just this week).

The free ride is over.

I know the truth hurts. By the way, aren't you Finnish? Enjoy your austerity when the Euro collapses.  :)

You "cultured" Europeans will be back to slaughtering each other in the streets soon enough.

Besides, I don't give 2 shits about the euro currency or Europe. As far as I'm concerned the whole world economy will collapse, and that goes for Europe as wel as America. This is going to happen wether you like it or not.

Don't believe for a second that you will be save in your moms basement if that happens.  :-*

erm.  I said India and China would step in and he said they didn't really need to move...

It was subtle humour you obviously didn't get.  I found it utterly hilarious.

I live in London.

I've been told Americans are insular and know nothing of the rest of the world.  Only 10% of you have a passport ?

I've also heard that you lot don't understand the subtleties of profound humour.  I've never believed this.  But you'd better find your funny bone, because it's going to get dire.  Do not lose your sense of humour because it might end up that that's all you have left.

In England recently and always in Italy, they've had politicans who make up laws as they go along.  You've not had political wrong-doing recently; we have.  I'm unable to fully comprehend the scale of the legals and illegals and I can't decide.  It's all awful.

I think I must blame our Government and theirs too.

I'll try hard not to take offence at your confusing me with a yank.

Very, very hard.

My slight incredulity arose by your... how shall we put it... let's say "peculiar", way of writing.

I guess it'd have been different if I were a quick one-liner type.  But I'm not, I'm rather a long paragraph person.  Plus it's complicated...

It's all gone quiet on the BBC re: Greece and Italy all of a sudden.

We should take bets on who (which country) is next.  But I'm not a gambler.
