I can do a couple of 20 reppers after a working set. On some days it feels pretty brutal so 100 reps doesn't sound like any more fun either. :-X

I think that was 84 reps i counted, brilliant effort kyomu.Six months ago i started a workout of doing one set for 50 reps on one exercise per bodypart, the first day i felt like i would throw up and i only used an empty bar on squats, but after benches, pulldowns, curls etc i was exhausted.then the next day i added 1 and a quarter kg each side, and added the same increase each day.It took about 5 days to get to the point where the breathing and cardio wasn`t a problem, and its amazing how quick the body adapts, and pretty soon i was doing 50 reps with 60kg.I worked up to get 50 reps with 100kg,and then focused more on adding weight each workout ,and the best i did was 30 reps with 140kg.Not bad for a 48 year old.
If you try for the 100 reps again in a few days time, you will be surprised how the body has adapted to the cardio side of things, and it wont take you many more workouts to hit the 100 reps.
Good stuff Shep.............sounds like a lot of painful fun!!  :)

Can you build decent mass with these high reps? If so, why go heavier? (being serious here)

Progression builds muscle mass and strength, not rep range, remember this.

I tried to do 100 with just the bar over the summer, thinking it would be easy.  I got to about 60 before my lower back felt like it was going to burst.
Yeah. Lower back was main problem.Thats why i couldnt keep on.
Unexpectedly,my quads didnt hit the limit.

Good effort.

Help me out with the numbers.

How many reps did you get, and how many pounds is 60Kg?
Paco counted it 94 reps.
But since some reps were not even paralel. I think around 90.

Good job,bro
As i remember that i did 60 reps x 60 kg full squats many years ago.
I doubt if i can do it 50,if i have to do it full.

wtf is wrong with people, why cant they squat???

Every olympic lifter can do it. Do it their way or else call it something else.

Please dont even talk squat if its not full range motion. This just make me mad!  >:(

As each day went on,i found that my calves were getting pumped a lot,and they definitely improved.Hamstrings as well improved and my goal was to get my legs back to where they were 20 years ago,and within 6 weeks they were well on the way. Then i got a lower back injury and had a couple of weeks off,i recently made myself a hip belt squat machine to take the stress off the lower back and plan on using this for high reps.

I remember when I would do pretty heavy 20 reps sets of squats.....my lower back felt like it was a spring that someone wound up tight as a drum........very painful even after 30-45 minutes or so.

As i stated, lower back exhaust at first when it comes to super high reps.
Just painful.

Some very impressive squatting in this thread.

84 with 60kg even though they were not that deep is pretty good - I would probably pass out after 50 reps or so.

Always wanted to do some high rep squatting but after about 30 or 40 reps my hands start to become numb , makes it really hard to concentrate.

That's why I just do high rep leg presses.
