Heaviest lift

Henderson is the current world record holder for heaviest drug tested raw bench press. Big James Henderson’s record setting lift was 711 lbs.[6] and was performed on July 13, 1997 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during an IPF/USPF sanctioned event.
[edit] Personal life

Henderson is a graduate of Mercer University, where he holds a Bachelors degree in theology and psychology. He also attended Albany State University where he played football from 1984 to 1986.[7] His career as an offensive lineman ended when he blew out his knee.[8]

In 1989 Henderson was convicted of drug trafficking and obstruction of justice, and was sentenced to 50 years in prison. He served 3 years at Rivers State Prison before being paroled and later pardoned in 1992. While at Rivers State he began reading the Bible and became a devoted born again Christian.[9] Now Henderson gives motivational speeches to groups such as students, business leaders, and prisoners. He currently tours the Georgia Prison System as a speaker for Heartbound Ministries. During his appearances he tells his story of how he became the bench press champion and performs feats of strength.

Girls and sons who have not been loved by their fathers seek attention once teens and adults to compensate for what they didnt have originally. Fathers either left them alone, or were distant most of the time and not encouraging them. Some even despised them which would shape their personality and the way they d interact with others for the rest of their life.
They are extremistic in everything they do, always looking exageratly for attention, and have troubles adapting to society's rules, because they also have troubles defining their own identity and respecting authority and hierarchy.

Also boys who got picked on by others during childhood and adolescence -often sons without a father figure- try to compensate by lifting weights, to develop muscles and survive in ther male world. They re insecure because they re girly, childish, feminine having been raised by a single mom. They lift obsessively hoping it will transform them into men, to compensate for their lack of influence from a father figure that was not there. Unfortunaltey they can get as big as they can it doesnt cure their insecurity and who they truly are, how they grew up being raised by a single mom. They re no as manly as other men whatever they do, and they often have a big lack of masculine presence they dont know how to balance, hence often being borderline homosexuals while trying to get their manhood back thru various manly activities (mma, cars, weight lifting etc). They are often the ones that, in order to get respect from other males will go the steroids route to get even "bigger" attemptint to cure their insecurity , but being natural not being "enough", they still feel "too small", insecure, amongst other males. The lack of a father figure also often means they didnt have guidance to continue studies and are often working shitty manual jobs.

Daddy issues refer to something of a slang term for the idea of the Electra complex or Bernfield Factor. While Freud developed the term Oedipal Complex, the Electra Complex was pioneered by Carl Jung. Freud continued to use Oedipal Complex to refer to the idea of a child idealizing the different gendered parent to the point of sexual desire, and a desire, at least in part, to get rid of the same sex parent. Such behavior, when exhibited by females, was a desire to “become pregnant by the father and kill the mother,” or alternately, evoked the idea that women entering puberty suffered from “penis envy,” the failure to have a phallus.

scott mendelson benched 715 raw juiced to the gills and he didnt pauze properly at the chest so it should have been a no lift but that's on ed coan who prematurely gave the "press" order because he was trippin balls

Amazing luck.  Sentenced to 50 and only served 3.  How does one earn that kinda luck?

The raw bench press record has gone up maybe 40 lbs in the last 30+ years. Why? Steroids have been available that long and that was the last big jump in raw strength. Jim Williams benched 675 lbs with a long pause in the early 70s and was reported to have done 700 in training (just missed it in competition).

Jim Williams- a Powerlifting Pioneer
by Keith Payne of House of Payne Powerlifting

Nov 27/2000

Twenty Eight years ago this month on November 9, 1972, Jim Williams competed in the World Powerlifting Championships held in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. He had broken the record of the great Pat Casey (who had bench pressed 617 pounds) in 1971 at the Eastern USA Open with a 635 pound American record.

On November 6, 1971 at the World's he had set another record with a 660 pound bench press. Needless to say the 1972 World's was a much anticipated event. Jim Williams, with ace wraps on his elbows, wearing a t-shirt and singlet, bench pressed 675 pounds for what should have been a world record. (I mention what he wore because he didn't have on any other supportive gear. I believe this is significant when it comes to comparing past and present day records).

The sad part of this story is that Jim Williams' records are not recognized as being world records. The powerlifting governing body of the day (I believe the IPF) would not validate his lifts even though they were sanctioned by the AAU in a World Powerlifting event. The striking thing is the 675 pound American record stood in the AAU and later in the USFP from November 9, 1972 until July 31, 1994 when Anthony Clark established a new mark at 683 pounds.

Even though several people witnessed Williams benching over 700 pounds, he never did it in a competition. I believe we need to revisit history from time to time and not let the early pioneers of the sport be forgotten. Jim Williams was one of the greatest bench pressers of all time!

yes, the new iranian lifter who is currently the world's number one lifter recently broke the 24 year old snatch record by one kilo tho in an iranian competition our resident iranian khorush brought to my attention

other than that the 23 year old clean and jerk record is still standing

i felt like the former world champion rezazadeh could have smashed it but he didnt try so we will never know now

Because the colored gentleman is fat and loves Jesus he must be natural.

mendelson could have broken his record if he'd not been in a car accident, that messed him up and he can't properly use leg drive anymore. His gym raw lifts were a lot higher than the record.
