I totally agree with Division, bodybuilders are not Powerlifters. Hell alot of bodybuilders dont even bench press anymore. It can be a very risky movement to do if you go extremely heavy. I will say though 15 reps is pretty lousy, well not pretty lousy, really lousy hell i train teenage footbal players that can do it that much.
Also....the form is different.
Bodybuilders don't use form like Powerlifters.
They also don't have the same static strength that comes from heavy negatives.
For powerlifting meets you have to hold the weight and pause, which I don't think they are doing for this 225lbs rep contest.
It's a whole different ballgame.
Pushing weight up and down for sloppy reps is not strength......that's physics and momentum with "some" strength on the positive slope.......where is the negative and static strength?
Also.......it's true, many IFBB pros don't even bench anymore.
Bob Chick said he doesn't bench AT ALL.......
Bodybuilders are not powerlifters.........not even close. Powerlifters have functional strength which is more useful in everday life.
