"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of
entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit
and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary
common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such
a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious
than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails them. Blaming the prince
of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that
made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is,
after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools
such as those who made him their president."

ObamaCare: If Possible, The News Is Getting Worse
By Grace-Marie Turner

ObamaCare is taking on water as we head into the second anniversary since it passed, and the news about the president’s signature legislation gets worse by the day.

To mark the law’s two-year anniversary, the House of Representatives is planning a vote to repeal one of the law’s most unpopular provisions — the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), which many seniors fear will become Medicare’s rationing board.

A few days later, the Supreme Court will hear a remarkable six hours of oral argument in the case with 26 states challenging the law’s constitutionality. Demonstrators will fill the streets outside the Supreme Court during the three days of hearings March 26-28.

For much of the last year, the White House had adopted a “strategy of silence” on ObamaCare. That’s clearly over.

After the 2010 election drubbing, the president rarely talked about his signature legislative achievement and even when he did, he only spoke about the small early provisions — 26-year-old children on their parents’ insurance, “free” preventive care, and more help for seniors with their drug costs.

For a while, the strategy was working. ObamaCare has died down as a major issue. The House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to repeal the law a year ago, and, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll, about half of those polled afterward thought the law has been repealed or weren’t sure. The confusion — and the lack of their basic knowledge of civics — suited the White House just fine.

But ObamaCare is back to center stage this month, and the more people learn about the law, the more unpopular it becomes. Here are just some of the recent revelations:

· Soaring costs. ObamaCare will cost $1.76 trillion over a decade, according to a new projection released Tuesday by the Congressional Budget Office, rather than the $940 billion forecast when it was signed into law.

The new 10-year projections cover nine years of ObamaCare’s implementation (2013-2022). Original estimates counted only six years of implementation — a budget gimmick to obscure the true cost of the law. At this rate, the conservative estimates of ObamaCare’s cost will be $2 trillion over 10 years, not the $1 trillion that President Obama promised.

· Lost coverage. Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY) released a statement saying that the CBO’s estimate also shows that the new health law will dramatically increase Medicaid spending and result in 4 million fewer people getting health insurance through their jobs. So much for being able to keep the coverage you have now “no matter what,” as the president promised.

· Opposition locked in. An AP-GfK poll taken early this month shows that only about a third of Americans (35 percent) support the health care law, while nearly half (47 percent) oppose it. That’s about the same split as when it passed.

Opposition remains strongest among seniors, many of whom object to Medicare cuts that were used to help finance coverage for younger uninsured people.

· Anti-conscience mandate. And then there is the mega-controversy the administration created over the anti-conscience contraceptive mandate. The president had tried to make the issue about “women’s health.” But the American people understand that it is a violation of the constitutionally-guaranteed protection of religious freedom to force Catholic hospitals, universities, and charities to cover drugs that cause abortion, sterilization, and contraceptives in violation of their strong moral beliefs.

A new poll from The New York Times and CBS News reveals that a substantial majority of Americans — 57 percent to 36 percent — favor an exemption for religious-affiliated employers. And a sizable majority — 51 percent to 40 percent — still favors a religious and moral exemption for all employers. This is the same poll that shows the president’s approval rating dropping to 41 percent.

· Loss of 25 Dem seats. President Obama personally promised Democratic members of Congress that if they voted for the bill, their constituents soon would thank them, arguing that a vote against the bill would be most damaging.

Yet a new study by American Politics Research found that at least 25 members of Congress lost their seats in Congress during the 2010 elections precisely because they voted for ObamaCare.

· Bi-partisan opposition to ObamaCare is brewing. When the House of Representatives votes next week on repealing ObamaCare’s unaccountable, unelected IPAB board, at least some Democrats are likely to support repeal. The IPAB repeal bill, sponsored by Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN), received bi-partisan support as it made its way through House committees, showing that Democrats are equally worried about the power of the board to usurp the job of the people’s elected representatives.

· Employers will drop coverage. A new study of employers conducted by Willis Human Capital Practice found that employers expect higher health costs for both employers and employees as a result of ObamaCare, and many expect to shift employees into taxpayer-paid coverage once the option is available. That shift would certainly exacerbate the exploding costs of the law.

Last year, health costs rose 9 percent for employers, triple the rate of the year before ObamaCare’s provisions began to be implemented. Employers expect costs to only go higher.

· Investors recoil. Uncertainty about the future of the health sector is also drying up investor capital — and threatening tomorrow’s medical innovations. The share of venture dollars flowing to seed and early-stage investments in biotechnology and medical devices has plummeted since 2007, when investors pumped $3.6 billion into 332 deals in which a price was disclosed, according to data compiled for Kaiser Health News by FactSet Research Systems. Overall venture investing declined by nearly one-third as the economic recession set in.

The list goes on: If public opposition is hardening now against ObamaCare, just wait until the mandate kicks in on January 1, 2014, when everyone will be required to purchase expensive government-dictated health insurance under penalty of federal law. And as seniors find it harder and harder to find a doctor who can afford to see them. And as they begin to fear the impact of the cuts of ObamaCare’s rationing board. And as states find it is impossible to provide basic services because the mandate to vastly expand Medicaid is gobbling up virtually all of their budgets. And as the unemployment rate refuses to drop because employers are frightened about the huge costs they are facing with the employer mandate. And as taxpayers see the gusher of red ink that will explode the federal budget deficit as ObamaCare’s subsidy costs explode.

If the Supreme Court does not throw out the whole law, the voters will have to finish the job with their votes in November.

Obama's Phony Numbers Adding Up
Townhall.com ^ | March 15, 2012 | John Ransom

With a number like this, I could run for president and beat Obama in November. And so could you.

I say that because I’m assuming that neither Mitt Romney nor Ron Paul is actually reading this article.

The numbers I’m referring to aren’t poll numbers, or employment numbers, or GDP growth, or gas prices.

Nope.

In a wholly predictable development, it turns out the cost for Obamacare will end up being twice the original price that the Democrats said.

Fancy Nancy was right: They did have to pass Obamacare for liberals to find out what was in it. But hey, this is what happens when you pass a bill you haven’t even read yet.

The Congressional Budget Office now forecasts “a gross cost to the federal government of $1,762 billion,” to implement Obamacare through year 2022 and that “those provisions will increase deficits by $1,083 billion.”

The cost is nearly twice- and counting- the $900 billion that was advertised by Democrats at the time the bill passed, just as Republicans predicted.

Liberal “wonk” Ezra Klein, of the math-impaired Washington Post, still scolded Republican Rep. Eric Cantor last year for pointing out this obvious fact: Democrats cooked the books to make Obamacare appear as a deficit reduction measure.

“But as a matter of arithmetic,” wrote Klein in January of 2011, “using the math that Congress always uses, the bill saves money. It cuts enough spending and raises enough taxes to more than pay for itself, both in the first 10 years and in the second 10 years.”

Turns out the “wonk” was w-w-w-wrong.

Perhaps that’s because Klein has been doing phony Washington math- “math that Congress always uses”- for too long. Only in Washington can you tax something and then say it pays for itself.

Too bad it doesn’t even “pay for itself” under Klein’s phony math.

In the movie The Program head football coach Sam Winters taunts reporters who seem to have problems doing math with “I know you guys can't write, but I thought you could at least count.”

Well, I always knew that The Post couldn’t write- at least not truthfully. But I’ve also known that they couldn’t do math- or global climate modeling, or fact-checking.

Still you have to give the folks from the Obama administration credit for consistency at least. Whether it’s the stimulus, the Chevy Volt, TARP, unemployment, Solyndra, gas prices, the deficit- math just never works out for them.

Let’s face it, if these guys were students, we’d be testing them for some sort of number-related learning disability.

It’s that bad.

As the Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein (no relation) reports: “y 2022, according to the CBO, 3 million fewer people will have health insurance through their employer, while 17 million Americans will be added to Medicaid and 22 million will be getting coverage through government-run exchanges.”

And-they-call-it-reform.

While the CBO predicts that the cost of Obamacare will be $48 billion less than they predicted last year, they get to that math by upping the amount they fine employers and individuals for violating the provisions of Obamacare.

Some government, huh?

This is like fining people for breathing. If they could just stick smart meters on all of us, they could tax us for a bunch of non-approved activities like heterosexual sex, going to church, clinging to guns.

In fact, while some may laugh at those examples as outrageous parody, the contraception-in-the-church flap isn’t parody at all. It’s an attempt by the government to make up for their failed math. The federal government can only be involved in our lives, our health and our religion in a way never dreamed of until recently by getting someone to pay for someone else’s “right” to something the rest of us have to go to work for.

Obamacare- and Bankcare, Real Estatecare, Unioncare, Government Employeecare, Greencare- will only stand if we are all stuffed into the same phony system with the same phony benefits that promise to pay for themselves with the same phony math.

Religion may or may not be the enemy to Obama, but it certainly stands in the way of the Obamacare scheme.

Which bring us back to the number that allows anyone not named Mitt or Paul or Ringo to beat Obama come November.

For the fourth week in a row, churches led us in prayer for the restoration of religious liberty in America.

America. Not Russia, Hilter’s Germany, Iran. America.

“There have been many threats to religious freedom over the decades and years, but these often came from without,” writes Cardinal Timothy Dolan, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops regarding the mandate provisions of Obamacare. “This one sadly comes from within.”

And as an increasing number of people are beginning to realize, it’s as easy for the government to trample on one right as it is another.

Any number that comes to more than none is an infamous number and should be defeated by all of us, not just one.

ObamaCare Success: Astronomical Costs, 4 Million Lose Coverage
Chris Banescu

Two different stories that came out today highlight the real consequences of the destructive and misguided ObamaCare regulations (known as the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act").  Rather than helping, the ObamaCare rules are wrecking havoc on companies, individuals, and medical institutions, spreading more misery to all of America .

Instead of reducing costs and helping people, ObamaCare is dramatically raising costs (estimates have doubled to $1.76 trillion) and hurting Americans (4 million will lose coverage), while gradually destroying our world-class health care system which America has created based on ethical capitalism, competition, and free-market principles.  Conservatives warned that this was going to happen, and this is exactly what we're witnessing.

Four Million Fewer Covered at Work Under Obamacare

by Keith Koffler - March 14, 2012

A new report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office states that by 2016, Obamacare will result in 4 million people fewer people getting health insurance coverage from their employers.

The estimate is a vast increase from the CBO prediction just a year ago that 1 million would no longer obtain coverage from their employers. And it raises substantial questions about the veracity of one of Obama's key pledges in selling the health care law - that everyone who wants to keep their current health insurance plan and doctor could do it.

CBO: Obamacare to cost $1.76 trillion over 10 yrs

by Philip Klein - March 13, 2012

President Obama's national health care law will cost $1.76 trillion over a decade, according to a new projection released today by the Congressional Budget Office, rather than the $940 billion forecast when it was signed into law.

Of course, these objective (non-partisan) facts and clear results before us will not deter the liberals, leftists, and progressives who cannot be bothered with reality.  The left will continue to support the suicidal socialized medicine model that has been a failure throughout history.  As long as they "feel" it works, it must be working.  Meanwhile, the rest of us are faced with the spreading devastation of arbitrary and oppressive government mandates that threaten our lives, health, and safety.

In all fairness, Option D said Obama has been disappointing. I think he mentioned he might vote for Ron Paul if he was the GOP nominee. But, that might be changing with Mitt representing the GOP.

But all the others that you mentioned are still riding the short school bus.

Finally the truth comes out: CBO proves Obama and Democrats lied about the cost of Obamacare
coachisright.com ^ | MARCH 15TH, 2012 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

What was abundantly clear about Obamacare’s real costs, to those of us who formed the TEA party movement to fight it, has now been certified by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

The lies and smug grins from the Democrats who forced Obamacare down our throats would be wiped away if we had an honest media – which of course we do not.

The CBO is saying the cost of Obamacare will be nearly double the fairytale lying Democrats told us it would be two years ago.

Coming on the heels of its recent report contradicting Obama’s lies about the unemployment numbers (when Obama was lying that unemployment was 8.3% CBO reported it is 15%,) this new burst of honesty from any government agency under Obama is indeed refreshing.

The CBO now projects the Democrats’ Frankenstein monster will cost $1.76 TRILLION of our tax dollars over the next ten years (and do you REALLY believe that?) instead of the $940 BILLION DOLLARS liars like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi told us it would cost.

Showing us the truth behind the Democrat curtain, the CBO projects that the weak economy inflicted on us by Obama (and doesn’t he continually tell us how great the economy is?) will force millions of more people into the Democrats’ government clutches.

To insure they would still have jobs, the people at the CBO helped Obama spray some perfume on this steaming pile of dung by including their own lie about new revenue from increased taxes and penalties being able to offset any cost over runs.

This begs the question: where does new revenue come from when our national jobs pool keeps shrinking?

The report also tells us that by 2022 three million fewer people will have private employer provided health insurance....

Health Care Costs Will Exceed Average Household Income By 2030
Noelia de la Cruz | 12 minutes ago | 84 | A A A

Health care costs will exceed the average household income by 2030, according to a recent study published in the Annals of Family Medicine.

In 2005, authors Richard A. Young and Jennifer E. DeVoe reported health insurance would equal median household income by 2025.

However, they have since adjusted their estimates to reflect the recession and the passage of the Affordable Care Act—both of which decreased health care spending, they say.

They determined the figures using the average growth rates of insurance premiums (8.0 percent) and household incomes (2.1 percent) between 2000 and 2009. Thirty-six percent of employers increased the share their employees pay for their insurance premiums—up from 22 percent in 2009.

If those rates remain the same, Young and DeVoe determined both family health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket costs would skyrocket—exceeding about $85,000, which is the projected average U.S. household income for 2030.

Young and DeVoe are pretty pessimistic in their report and suggest the Affordable Care Act will do little to help. However, if it does succeed in driving down costs, health insurance won't exceed income until 2037, they say.

In contrast, a study published in Health Affairs last month found the Affordable Care Act could have better-than-expected results. Researchers equipped 26,000 previously uninsured Richmond, Va. residents with health care plans and tracked them between 2006 and 2007.

In the end, they found the participants cut health care costs by 50 percent with fewer emergency room visits and more access to preventative health care.

As it stands, about 50 million Americans today are without health insurance.

ObamaCare: Twice as expensive as promised, and getting worse
by John Hayward (more by this author)
Posted 03/15/2012 ET
Updated 03/15/2012 ET

The big ObamaCare news this week isn’t really “news” to anyone who was smart enough to see through the President’s obfuscations and fraudulent accounting when ObamaCare was being rammed down our throats.  No group has ever been more utterly vindicated than ObamaCare critics, who were right about absolutely everything they said.

One of Obama’s sleaziest tricks was front-loading revenue into ObamaCare, while deferring expenses for as long as possible.  This made it look like it would cost a lot less than it actually would.  How much less?  Oh, about half as much as the true cost… and that’s according to estimates from a government agency known for its extreme caution and static analysis methods.

The Congressional Budget Office does 10-year forecasts, so now that it’s 2012, they’re looking out to 2022, when some of the biggest fiscal damage from ObamaCare reveals itself.  What they found is very ugly indeed, as Fox News reports:

In a largely overlooked segment of the CBO's update to the budget outlook released Tuesday, the independent arm of Congress found that the bill will cost $1.76 trillion between now and 2022.

That only counts the cost of coverage, not implementation costs and other changes.

"The bill spends more than the president promised, it covers fewer people -- probably 2 million fewer people -- and it taxes more than was expected," said Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., ranking member on the Senate Budget Committee.

What if we throw in those implementation costs?  Where does that leave us, Senator Sessions?

"The full accounting of the bill is $2.6 trillion. That's a fair and accurate analysis of what the bill would cost, according to CBO," Sessions said, noting how the cost dwarfs the fight over the 10-year debt reduction plan debated last year.

"We spent a whole summer fighting over a way to reduce spending by $2.1 trillion and here this bill is going add $2.6 trillion more in spending."

Politics often involves crazy sales tactics, but the spectacle of Obama and his Party pretending to be even slightly concerned about the national debt is insane-asylum material.

The lunatics are still trying to claim that all this wild spending and exploding cost will somehow reduce the deficit, by which they mean “make it grow a little slower than it otherwise would have.”  This assertion is based, in part, on the huge amount of money ObamaCare will suck out of the private sector through taxes, and of course the unique quantum tax/fine of the “individual mandate,” which is either a tax or a fine, depending on which member of the Administration is speaking, and who is asking the question.

Since the Obama economy is getting ready to go into a nose dive, with less than 2 percent annual GDP growth, but the number of living human beings required to fork over ObamaCare taxes, fines, and quantum tax/fines continues to increase, ObamaCare becomes a more stable and reliable source of revenue.  No matter how awful the economy gets, the ObamaCare needle will never budge from America’s veins.

When you hear a Democrat boast of the revenue ObamaCare is projected to bring in, understand that what they’re really saying is that they’ve crushed the economy so thoroughly that Big Government now survives on a tax you pay for the privilege of being alive.

By far the craziest quote in this story comes from Democrat Representative Jim Cooper of Tennessee, who flies over the cuckoo’s nest to assure us that even though ObamaCare has thus far caused health care costs to rise substantially, it will soon reverse that trend, because “there are no public options. There's no big new government health plan being offered. It's all private sector options, and we hope they compete against each other to get prices down.”

Sane people look at the many surveys take of terrified employers and understand reality is the precise opposite of what Cooper claims: it’s becoming increasingly attractive for businesses to terminate insurance coverage, to escape from the ObamaCare disaster, dumping their employees into the “public exchanges” or Medicaid.  The Obama Administration wants military veterans thrown in those exchanges, too.  As if Obama’s grinding unemployment and collapsing workforce weren’t already depriving too many Americans of private-sector health insurance!

We’re still two years away from the “full implementation” of ObamaCare, and the Congressional Budget Office has a poor track record of predicting the true cost of legislation while it’s still unfolding.  Also, the collapse of private insurance can come very quickly, as businesses decide on fairly short notice that it makes more sense to pay the quantum tax/fine for non-compliance than to comply with a disaster.  Wait until you see the ten-year projections that cover 2024.  That will be right about the time you hear Democrats begin muttering that single-payer socialized medicine is the only possible escape from the ObamaCare nightmare they created.

Report: Health care reform $6,058 per worker

http://washingtonexaminer.com/politics/washington-secrets/2012/03/report-health-care-reform-6058-worker/386621

Mon, 2012-03-19 14:33  In a sign of how big the Obamacare hit could be, a new review of the similar Massachusetts health care plan instituted by former Gov. Mitt Romney in 2006 found that it cost employees $6,058 in wages annually. But the mandate succeeded to get people health insurance and didn’t result in any major job cuts, said the report, which predicted a similar high costs for Obamacare when it goes into effect next year.

The bottom line: New workers getting health insurance through their job “were willing to accept lower wages in exchange because they valued the benefit,” said the report from Jonathan Kolstad, of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Amanda Kowalski, a Brookings Institution fellow and Yale University faculty member.

Co-author Kolstad told Washington Secrets that there was no cost impact to workers already receiving health insurance prior to Romneycare, a fact that should settle the nerves of millions of Americans worried about the impact of Obamacare.

New workers, however, got hit, with their wages getting cut to match the price of health insurance. “It only applied to the newly insured, who basically were willing to take lower wages in exchange for the new benefit.,” he said.

And in being willing to trade an average of $6,058 annually wages for health insurance, the authors found, employers didn’t cut jobs.

Kowalski suggested that Obamacare would get a similar response, even though critics argue that small employers will either kill insurance and pay a fine or slash employees to cover the new costs. Health reform, said Kowalski, “will likely not cause large job losses but it will likely result in lower wages to workers as employers pass the cost of the mandate onto their employees.”
