There is not one single item for the average person better than 4 years ago.   Is the market up?  Sure, but its on thin ice and showing signs of possible bear market again.

Inflation is terrible, jobs are terrible, debt/deficit are horrible, etc etc

I dunno... I keep saying that my life compared to 4 years ago is probably better.

That's just my own personal self though... I can't speak for everyone and I certainly see how other people may not be.

It is certainly a rough time to be an American.

President Obama has emerged with an impressive lead in swing states around the country — thanks to women voters abandoning the GOP in droves, according to a new USA Today/Gallup poll showing President Obama leading among women voters in the top dozen battleground states by a whopping 18 points — greater than the 12-point gender gap he won with in 2008. ;D

I think you should not be as hasty in saying that everything is worse now than it was four years ago. Not even for the average person -- whoever the hell that may be.

You see, I consider myself pretty average. Overall, I'm quite a bit better now than I was four years ago. I have a new job (which came with a pretty substantial salary increase), my brokerage account is in the black (although it could fare better), I bought a large house two years ago which I own free and clear and I don't owe anyone a dime (except for the balance on my credit card which I use for bills throughout the month to get points and then pay off fully come bill time).

Are there things I'm unhappy from a political standpoint? You bet. But they don't affect my life on a day to day basis and they're certainly not enough for me to say that my life is worse now than it was four years ago.

Come September/October, republicans might not want to be asking the question: "are you better off than 4 years ago"  A lot of people will answer yes.

just like the war issue peaked in the spring of 2008 (when the war guy mccain won)...

maybe the economy issue peaks in spring 2012 and something new matters most in october 2012.

Romney in 2008, with the economy crashing 2 months before the election - would have had a MUCH better chance of winning than mccain, whose only claim was "i dont know much about the economy... but I sure do know about the war that is winding down!"

The Democratic Party Is Rotten Through and Through
American Thinker ^ | 4/14/2012 | Neil Snyder
Posted on April 15, 2012 9:50:31 AM EDT by IbJensen

Hilary Rosen is a frequent visitor to the White House. According to White House visitor logs, she has visited the president's home 35 times since he took office, but on Thursday, Press Secretary Jay Carney did his best to distance President Obama from Rosen because of her remarks about Mitt Romney's wife, Ann. Carney's claim that he knows three Hilary Rosens was a feeble attempt to defuse a ticking time bomb.

Rosslyn Smith had an interesting blog in Thursday's American Thinker in which she said:

Let us count the Hilary Rosens in Jay Carney's world. There is Hilary Rosen spokesperson for RIAA and lobbyist for SOPA. There is Hilary Rosen the CNN [c]ontributor. There is Hilary Rosen single mother and [LGBT] activist. There is Hilary Rosen current partner of Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers. (That Hilary Rosen was half of the several gay and lesbian power couples at the recent state dinner honoring British PM [David] Cameron.)

That sure is a lot of Hilary Rosens.

Wait! They are all the same Hilary Rosen you say? So they are[.]

Rosen wasn't sharing her personal views about Ann Romney on CNN, comments that launched a thousand denials. She was reciting the Democratic Party line, when she said:

Guess what? His [Romney's] wife has actually never worked a day in her life. She's never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and why do we worry about their future.

White House Allowed Hilary Rosen Back-Door Lobbying Privileges
Breitbart ^ | 4/15/12 | staff
Posted on April 15, 2012 4:52:55 PM EDT by Nachum

Hilary Rosen, the Democratic National Committee consultant who told CNN last week that Ann Romney had “never worked a day in her life,” has used her power with the White House to swing special lobbying privileges for her friends – all without meeting reporting requirements. One senior Democrat told Ben White at Politico:

Serious Dem operatives are aghast at Hilary Rosen’s misguided attack on Ann Romney’s work history. She and others at PR firm SKD Knickerbocker have represented many clients that have raised hackles with senior White House staff. It’s an open secret in the Dem consultant community that SKD has been signing up clients based on ‘perceived White House access’ tied to prior relationships and employment.

In other words, SKDKnickerbocker has been using its “ins” at the White House to sign up its biggest clients. As The Nation reports, Kaplan Education hired SKDKnickerbocker to help block Obama’s anti-college companies legislation; Win America, a lobbying campaign, has used SKDKnickerbocker to push for big tax breaks; food manufacturers paid SKDKnickerbocker to battle food regulations. The list goes on and on. Anita Dunn, Hilary Rosen’s partner over at SKDKnickerbocker, even used her access to the White House to sign up big businesses for anti-Buffett Rule lobbying while working as a “paid media” advisor for another PR firm.

REVEALED! MICHELLE OBAMA MASTERMINDED ANN ROMNEY MOM SMEAR!

-A[1] +A [1]
By RICK EGUISQUIZA, NATIONAL ENQUIRER

Political sources revealed to The ENQUIRER that MICHELLE OBAMA brain-stormed the scheme to sic a pit bull strategist on the GOP contender’s wife ANN ROMNEY and it backfired!

Talking head Hilary Rosen set off a firestorm when she mocked Mitt Romney for relying on his wife for advice on the economy, sniping that Ann – who raised five sons, has battled breast cancer and suffers from mul tiple sclerosis – “never worked a day in her life!”

Rosen was forced to apologize, say ing her words were “poorly chosen.” Even President Obama got into the act, saying there’s “no tougher job than being a mom.”

A publicly sympathetic Michelle, 48, tapped out a message on Twitter, writing: “Every mother works hard, and every woman deserves to be re spected.” But behind the scenes, her fingerprints were all over the scandal, said an inside source.

“Michelle had her claws out to get Ann, but it quickly backfired and Barack was livid when he heard she had secretly directed the attack,” said the source.

“What Michelle didn’t remember was that when Barack was running for president, he told ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ that it was unfair to attack Michelle, saying his wife was off limits. Here they were, however, doing the same thing to Romney’s wife four years later.

“But even though Michelle was the instigator, the political grenade blew up in the president’s face.”

The White House also caught heat when it was revealed Rosen had been a guest there 35 times – three times more often than Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.

“Michelle thought Rosen, an out-of-the-closet lesbian and close pal, could be their attack dog, but she miscalculated badly by going after stay-at-home moms,” said the source.

“Behind the scenes, Michelle has vented that she worked hard as a lawyer in addition to being a mom.

She also made jokes about Ann Romney ‘working at leading a rich lifestyle,’ includ ing the fact that Ann competes in horse shows.

“Michelle is determined to do whatever it takes to keep her husband in the White House. She’s learned politics is a dirty business. It’s only a matter of time before she comes up with another plan to go after Ann.”

BUT ANN, 63 – a dedicated homemaker who’s been married to the former Massa chusetts governor for 43 years – is getting the last laugh in the first face-off of what promises to be a months-long catfight. She’s stepped up to become a champion for the rights of stay-at-home moms.

“My career choice was to be a mother,” Ann told a TV reporter. “And I think all of us need to know that we need to respect choices that women make.”

Since Ann Romney called this phony controversy "a gift" shouldn't she be thanking Rosen?

Who gets a gift and doesn't say Thank You?

Also, who is so stupid as to call something like this a gift and make it so blatantly obvious that they are a political whore

Has Mitt ever allowed his wife to have the dignity of work?
