On another related topic I have a niece that waits on tables at a seaside bar restaurant. It's a beer, burger and onion rings kind of place. On weekends they have a band.  She makes over $1000 dollars cash in tips a night. She would work as a teacher Monday to Friday. On Friday, Sat. and Sun she would pocket around 3K cash.

LOL elementary school teacher/waitress making 15k  per month.

No human could pull off cranking out 5 days a week working with brats then slinging hash till 2am 3 other nights a week pulling double shifts.
Bitch would burn out in no time flat lol

Guys....I'll tip 20% when the service is good, about 25% when it is very good, and 30% or more and a talk with a manager when the service is excellent. I know the good ones work hard.

But no freakin way I'm giving 15/20% to some "Occupy Wall Streeter" because he/she feels I'm obligated.

No it's not a burger shack you idiot but a place that can fit hundreds of people in a shore town that has million dollar homes jerk off. Even waitors in a typical burger joint can pick up 200 a day in tips.  Working from 6 P to 2 AM waiting on tables running up tabs from $50 to $200 plus adds up. You must live in a hillbilly area where every one leaves a buck on the table.

I never once said I don't tip. I said, "who said leaving a tip is required" meaning if I don't want to, I shouldn't have to. It is not a REQUIREMENT.

The first problem is thinking that waiting tables is a way to make a living.  It's a job that requires no qualifications and should be filled by students or unemployed people living with their parents.

There is a local bar that has a party every year, and thousands of people show up and drink all day.  I have heard the bartenders make over $5,000 each and the waitresses make $3,000 each.  Not normal, but not bad for one day of hell.  Oh, mostly whites attend(no racist).

I am a part of a pentecostal church, and we have a whole spectrum of cultures/races in the congregation - so one night i'm out with a few of the married couples and that night it just so happens that out of 8 couples only myself and wife were not a black couple - rest from jamaica/nigeria/zim..........so anyway all of our friends were really demanding and spoke down to the waitresses a bit (not rude just a bit short if you know what I mean) so at the end of a lovely meal, we are all putting the bill together and I put an extra £10 ($20) on top for the great service.

Sad thing was as we are leaving, I notice only my solitary tip on the table next to the cash for the bill. These are christian/otherwise generous who would give you their left arm if you needed it -  so can only be the black culture to blame I suppose for why they don't tip.
