I know he was competitive in powerlifting and I know he is a big dude, someone said nearly 300lb, but this is all fun and games, besides I am pretty confident, I know I have done 14 reps with 5 plates so fuck it, I will take the risk
You know, not only do I have a
total lack of caring for what you believe or do not believe, but I also know that, if I DID post a video, you'd challenge a) it's not me, b) the plates are fake, c) I am not, infact, drug-free (and want a verified drug-test profile mailed to you), etc.
So even if I did give two shits about what you believe, what would be the point? As is, I'd have to sacrifice an important deadlift session to appease someone I don't even know (I am always following a program, being a competitive powerlifter and all, and
very rarely do reps of 10 or more) and trouble my sometimes-training-partner (I almost always lift alone, getting spots from random gym members), Peanuts, to come to the gym so he could use his camera to videotape my doing it. (As I have said, I don't have a cell phone or camera; never
have had one).
About four months ago I pulled a tight, controlled (many would say my lowering speed on each repetition was almost a negative) 10 reps with exactly 500 (495 plus a 2.5 on each side) and without wrist straps. I think I perhaps had two more, if I pushed it. I had competed just recently and was just horsing around for a few weeks and decided I wanted to officially do 10 at 500, just for kicks.
Fourteen reps at 500 is a serious freak out performance, man. And guess what? I believe you! Did you use straps? Just wondering.
With straps and a faster lowering speed (but still controlled), I can see myself doing maybe between 15 and 20.
I have officially pulled 650 (raw) and was all set to yank a seven during my last meet (the 2012 Ontario Provincial Championship) when I had to ditch the deadlift component after injuring my knee on my second squat attempt and realizing it was NOT ready to pull big numbers off the floor. Hurt like a bitch warming up with 135 for shit sakes. Sucks. Next time.
You're a big puller, dude. Congrats. And if I ever DO videotape something such as what you challenge, I will certainly post it. But as I say, you wouldn't believe it anyway ...
Stay strong, Onetimehard. Oh, and I apologize for insulting your knowledge about the deadlift. I didn't know you were an accomplished puller. I jumped the gun.
