I know what you're sayin'. For years, I feared having kids; seemed like an unbearable amount of responsibilities. But from my experience, most people find immediately the strength to raise a child and to embrace those responsibilities. Best thing that happened to me, gives me a huge drive and incredible moments. It's the impact that it has on your relationship with your woman which is terrible (and for most part, it happens in their heads- nothing else). Kids are much easier to deal with then women-specially the modern type.

Having a relationship with a mom with you still being without a child will result in an unbalanced relationship for the get-go. The kid will always be her priority while you'll be looking for the relationship to prime before moving to something bigger. I don't advise it.
