As opposed to an actual place. Not saying that I don't see that we actually live on a big pile of dirt, but the actual country us Americans live in. It seems that the way the constitution/govt is set up, it is controlled by the majority or majority of voters. So let's say we don't stop immigration(middle easterners, Mexicans etc) that means that eventually the America we know today will not exist. Other people not born here, and have generations of ancestors here, have different ideals and perceptions of how things should be, and infect us with their new beliefs. Now you can say it is no different than when the Irish came here in the 1800s or whatever, but it is a bit different because the beliefs of these people are so polarizing to what we currently have set up. And, I'm not just talking about white people of European descent, I'm talking about the generations of blacks that have been here as well. I think this country is changing for the worse, but it is because of the very freedoms we allow/are guaranteed by our govt.
Other countries, take Switzerland for example, there are certain regions there where you can't even buy property as a foreign citizen, and there are limits to the size of place you can buy if not a citizen. Nobody is up in arms about this, yet if we denied people the right to buy property here, it would be an outrage. Why do we seem to be so easily pushed around by foreign interests or what others think about us. We need to be thinking about how to preserve our own. I say no more immigration. Any thoughts?
