Ventura was a navy SEAL- he could singlehandedly take down multiple cops if he chose. Tyson is a badass street fighter, and would KO ventura in a boxing match, but in a street fight Ventura would most likely destroy him.

I remember all the Tyson hype for that match. I was 11 yrs old & my family was vacationing in Fla & were due to get back in that night. We got delayed & was trying to rush my Dad on drive home from airport to make it home by 11:30pm to catch the match. Didn't make it til 1am. Found out days later Tyson was replaced by Buster Douglas.

Dont be so sure of that. Jesse was a former United States Marine and a Navy Seal. Professional wrestler for I dont know how many years. And the former front man body-guard for the rolling stones. Jesse would Tyson a run for his money in his prime. Thats for sure.

I believe that they later combined the Underwater Demo & SEALS. But, that was after Jesse's active duty time, which is why I think that many SEALS today resent Ventura representing himself as one.

Nonetheless, Jesse still has SEAL buddies - including Terry Moy - who publicly support him to this day.

They did.

UDT and the SEALs both went through BUDs and Ranger School (I think the SEALs went through some other schools as well. Not very well versed on their training during Vietnam), but UDT in Vietnam saw very little combat compared to the SEALs. And evidently, any UDT that wanted to be a SEAL only had to request transfer to a SEAL team and it practically a done deal.

As you said, they were merged later on, since they had almost the same training anyway.
