Please educate me?  What problems are they facing?  Is it a genetic issue, or a cultural one?

Cultural and an excuses...
Many black women have perms and weaves---they don't want to sweat out the perm or weave. or have their hair looking all "Gawd DAMN, WHAT THE HELL".

To me, it also goes back to the natural issue. And some gyms like Planet Fraudness Fitness, don't allow scarves or headgear.
I know my college gym didn't allow hats or du-rags.

So, the question for many is to go, natty or chance it and sweat their perm/weave out...

There was a scene in Boondocks that talk about why black women who run seem crazy or are single---it was concluded the chemicals in their hair that seeped into their brain making them crazy.

Thanks for explaining.

Fitness will make you so much more attractive than a "hairdo," at least IMO.  Much rather see a pretty (and fit) black girl with an afro than a fat one with a perm.

yes, so sweating that out, means all the time taken to do it, was for nothing..
Again,  like

I' d rather see a chick with natural hair in shape, that some out shape chick worried about her hair.

Just shave the head and wear a wig.

I've noticed quite a few black women do this. Problem solved.

i am not a black woman so i cannot really understand the challenges they face with their hair...

however i still find it sad that some people feel the need to exist in such a superficial way...

the woman i married likes to wear a very small amount of makeup, but that's it... she gets a hair cut every 6 months and doesn't have fake anything

personally, i shave my head and only own a bar of soap... no shaving cream, no shampoo, no... well you get the idea

the though of existing with fake hair, nails, eyelashes, etc is so fucking odd to me that i can't describe it... it'd be like halloween every day

Some do.....some don't... ::)

you like men, vince.  during peak (over 100 women for sure) hours at my gym, i can count black women on one hand.  and it's usually the same ones.  black chicks don't like to workout.  no one is going to do a scientific study, but it's a true statement by parker.  shit, they didn't even go to the gyms in louisiana, and most cities are 60% black.

The prettiest black girl at my high school had natural hair.  I think she had some Spanish (Peurto Rican to be exact) in her, but she rocked Afro Puffs for a while, and she would have made Halle Berry jealous with her curves.

that's because her hair is natural---can't sweat out a perm, when you don't have one.

ive never been to a Planet Fitness, but several women in the link commented on that, and so I've been told by other women as well...

Now, with my college gym, the dude held an old Skool view for men---no hats in the building which I can see, but it's a gym, not a place where one would need to be "proper".
