I finished the first season of Walking Dead last night, thought it was fun/okay but not spectacular. How do the seasons that follow compare with the first (better/worse)?

I watched the whole season back to back when I had to fly to China recently, very awesome TV, cannot wait how it all develops, Lokie or what ever the characters name is the only one that annoys me a little now.
