So what's it like. Any getbiggers live there?

I heard finding a white person there is like finding a straight person in a bb contest. Any truth to that??

White people go to certain areas downtown around the sports arenas. The rest looks like a bombed out war zone.

Once the car industry died in Detroit, it really has gone downhill. Sad.

I personally think the car industry was part of the problem---and that one of the big three should have stayed in Detriot and the other two should have left a long time ago. Each one developing its own identity, like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes.

Yeah, that's an excellent summation of the area.

To give you an idea, the city has lost about close to 30% of its population in the last decade or so. Something like half the population doesn't pay property tax, and the city is so cash strapped, they are considering converting a few large tracts into agricultural areas.

There are some whites, but they're either in some of the area downtown or on the borders of certain suburbs.

There is some beautiful older homes there, but look at the tax bill for new residents, it's big, considering you'll be living like the Omega Man in certain areas.

You can buy a 2,500 sq ft house for a couple grand.

Bodybuilding related: The Redford theatre holds many local bbing contests.  Sadly, as bad as that area is, it's definitely on the better half as far as Detroit areas go.

They tried all sorts of money making schemes to generate money for the Pontiac Silver Dome but none of them worked.  No one wanted to go to Pontiac. Pontiac is a mini-Detroit.   I grew up within walking distance of the Silver Dome.

I used to bang out local broads at the Red Roof Inn on Big Beaver Road, then go watch the Lions play.

Pontiac always sucked ass.

they actually filmed Apocalypse Man there because it closely resembled a post-apocalyptic environment.

i think they should just cordon off the entire city and make it like a survivalist attraction, like The Zone from the stalker games.

They also filmed parts of the Red Dawn remake in Pontiac.

No....there was a time Pontiac and Detroit were okay when they were still making cars. We meet a bunch of Jewish chicks who were from Israel and they were doing everything they could to try to stay in the country.

Detroit died long before the auto industry took a shit. I lived there for many years. Honestly it never recovered after the 67 riots. Detroit is the worst case example of liberalism run amok.

I lived and worked in detroit for years. I worked for the city of detroit. It's population has to be around 85 to 90 % black. All of its  elected officials: mayor, city council, judges....they are all corupt and play the race card ad nauseam to get votes.

The people are impoverished and have little education. Hud homes and slum lordsmare a dime a dozen, only outnumbered by abandoned, burned out and vacant property.... government handouts keep people from trying to do for themselves.  Because social well fare is primarily a liberal agenda most detroiters think they are democrat. The truthis they are strung along at the poverty level in government funding.

The city is completely over run by violent crime and the police are under staffed, under trained and underpaid. The  DOJ has been "overseeing" the police department to the tune of a million dollars a month for the past 9 years. The only thing that has happened is police stations were closed and crime has gone up.

The tax paying segment of the population is dying and the current generation is mostly felons who live off of the state. Its the worst case example of a welfare state.

After the riots of 67 there was what was called 'white flight' thats when most of the white population left detroit for the suburbs. The auto companys bought a lot of cheap property, buying out the poorest neighborhoods. Those people bought homes in the nicer areas a crime went through the roof.

And that was all before crack hit in the early 80's.

There's a look at two of the police stations that were closed in the early and mid 2000's. I knew a fella that was around when the top one closed, he said it was just like the were leaving the house for a day, everyone just walked out and left most of the things there, including tons of evidence files. It's hilarious in a sad way.

That fella's channel does tons of filming in Detroit, etc..... Mostly famous abandoned structures, but he does show a lot of out the window type shots that show you just how barren some of it is.
