I think the Clarence Boddicker-led crime wave from the 80s was the final nail in the coffin.

- The '67 race riots drove out the whites and productive/educated citizenry in general.
- The formerly Big 3 found it much cheaper and more efficient to produce their vehicles overseas and in different parts of the country, in order to escape the ridiculous payscale and demands of Union labor.
- The formerly Big 3 made horrendous decisions that led to many billions of dollars lost in regards to product....placing an emphasis on large pickups and SUVs while completely ignoring the passenger car segment..all the while gas crept up to over four bucks a gallon. In order to save costs, they slashed thousands of jobs in an attempt to streamline their companies....Detroit was a huge casualty.
