There's no doubt that judges have too much power...However, just about anyone going into a court room knows that the one thing you don't do is disrespect the process/judge...The butt slap was a show of disrespect...I've read about people losing their jobs for slapping the ass of a woman in the work place(sexual harassment) even when the woman who's ass was slapped didn't have a problem with it. But the people who witnessed the act did.

The judge seems most pissed that people laughed. She got visibly upset and her response was 100% emotional. She was not making that decision rationally at all.

The guy is going to jail purely because of an irrational and emotional response of the judge.

She should be disbarred immediately. She should not let her own personal emotions get in the way of her decision making.
