Arnold and ARod
« on: August 03, 2013, 05:03:08 PM »
It's a strange relationship we have with our idols "superstars"

Here you have Alex Rodriguez a baseball all star that is currently the player with most HR's,RBI's,Run's,total bases, etc in MLB; he is "suspected" to be aided with PEDs....the result?  People say how he is the worst human being ever and deserves a lifetime ban and that he should hang himself or go away.

Then you have Arnold Schwarzenegger. a former Bodybuilder champ,that has been trashed as politician,family man,husband,his recent movies suck etc ...... then at 66 he's back on the juice (PED) in our own faces to see ! but in his  case he's celebrated, admired and IDOLIZED  once again.

Cant help but think that's strange........

It's very simple.

The phenomenon is called Favoritism.

Arod = fgt

Arnold = awesome

It's that simple. A rod is a douche, so everyone hates everything he does. Arnold is a likeable douche who's inspired millions, so he can do no wrong.

not so sure he s on roids, he could well be natural, ok maybe low doses of hrt, but his muscles dont scream roid use. After the various surgeries he had to have to survive his past steroid abuse im not so sure he s so fond of using them again.

It's because baseball fans are largely all stat geeks who are pissed off that all these juiced out players took a shit on their sacred record books.  In the movie industry there aren't any traditionalist douche bags to deal with.

Here's why

1. Most people don't even know Arnold juiced, despite admitting to it

2. Arnold didn't use them when they were illegal and didn't gain an unfair advantage over the competition (one could argue ARod isn't gaining an advantage either but the general public won't)

3. Back in the 60s, no one really talked about steroids. It just wasn't considered a dangerous drug then. Now, a steroid user is worse than a murderer or rapist according to the general public

You're all incorrect.

It's not them, it's the organizations/industry. Last week I has a similar conversation with my fighters...all of them then I layed into their industry. Here's why. Like professional MMA, there is no accountability or very little. In bodybuilding there are no penalties for bad conduct and with MMA there is at least a suspension process if caught using PED's and trust me and even then the penalty is low. Either industry if you get caught for bad conduct or drugs you don't lose endorsement contracts you don't lose any money, etc.

But the conversation wasn't about drugs, it was about accountability and being called "Professional". As a "Professional" athlete or even a business professional, there is certain conduct that must upheld, especially in mainstream sports (MLB, NFL, golf, etc) ex: with most teams in the NFL if you're late for practice or a meeting the penalty is usually a $1k for every minute late as an example.

In the MLB's situation, they are sincerely trying to rid the industry of all PED's, it's not just what I have read it's what I know not only having a few players in my gym but also their agent Scott Boras, we had this talk in my gym as a meeting right before the start of the season. These are INDUSTRY STANDARDS. A-Rod and other players are losing out just not on the suspension money, but HUUUUUUGE endorsement contracts because the companies do not want someone representing they product or service that will give them a bad reputation.

Look what happend to Tiger Woods when his affair (or 20) was found out, he literally lost hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsement contracts because of bad conduct. None of this happens in MMA or bodybuilding, there is no accountability.

In my case, I "fired" 13 of the 16 fighters I currently train for not being or acting the way I feel a professional athlete should, I am the only coach out of their stand up, muay tai, jiu jitsu coaches to "fire" them. Most were "yes" men, instead of coaching the fighter, the fighter would dictate the session....thats not how it works, the coach tells the athlete when to start, stop and what to do, not the other way around.

To be fair:

             1- I thought you said you were done training fighters?

             2- are you sure you fired them?

             3- what are your fighters records after a camp with you?

Don't be a smart ass. Either reply with at the very least a little intelligence or don't reply at all.

Hope this helps.

Bodybuilding isn't a "sport". I have no idea why people insist on calling that.

LOL @ A-Rod saying this has been such a horrible couple of months.

Anytime you're making 20 million in one calendar year, please STFU about how hard you have it lol.

A-Rod might end up being known as one of the biggest punks in the history of baseball.  All that denial for so many years.  And now whining about how bad he has it.

If you were a millionaire most of your adult life, playing better than every ball player you ever knew,being treated like GOD by MLB and SOB Bud Selig and suddenly being booed, treated like a criminal and forced to go away by your own team,(5 years before your contract is over) ....... you'd probably  be crying too.
