Might have been from all the injuries in the past to his arm.

Yes, no doubt.
That triceps tear must have been really severe.

His biceps always were high, which makes that first shot look even smaller and more odd.

It doesn't matter because in his prime he possessed one of the greatest physiques to roam the earth.

True, he dont' give a shit about being big anymore he has paid his dues just enjoying life now.

Many Bodybuilding fans don't understand that when a bodybuilder retires, their physiques don't carry on with them. See Dorian, Ronnie, Arnold, etc...

I'll never disrespect a elder legend because of his age. It's gonna get all of us. What matters is what he or she looked like at in their prime.

Dorian's arms today are no different than in 2012. He's just wearing a t-shirt that is hiding his upper arm. His left arm has a torn bicep and tricep and he never got it repaired.

He still trains with the tear?

recall thought that this disproportionate decline in arm size started way back in 1996:

before he stopped competing, the arm atrophy had begun thanks to the tears.

I believe that tri tear occurred in 97.

Look at the first pic I posted in his blue shirt from 2012. His forearms are 10" there at best and biceps maybe squeeze out to 13".

I don't disagree that his arms look small compared to the average pro-bodybuilder, but I think your visual measurements are off by quite a bit unless he is a very small man, which he isn't.

In his last Olympia his tricep was hanging on by a thread, he tore it a week or so before the show and should have had it immediately repaired.
he went through his posing routine thinking it could come off completely at any time.

Fact is, when you push "things" as far as these guys do, you have to expect to pay the price, somewhere down the line. Dorian did all he thought he needed to to become the world's best, and now Mother Nature is collecting payment.

Most every contemporary (say, the last 20 years) high-level bodybuilder eventually suffers Disappearing Triceps Syndrome (I came up with that a few years ago), and when you couple this with Yates' injuries, etc., it's obvious why his upper arms are so trashed.

The man is a legend and a nice dude. I sat with him a few years ago for lunch in Toronto and, yeah, he's, overall, still a large man, but his upper arms are withered and destroyed. But at this point, what does he have to prove? He did what was necessary and reaped the rewards. Now his bodybuilding glory days are long over and he's very fortunate to have the health that he does, as has been said.

Well to play devils advocate; retired pros shouldn't play the size game it's just unhealthy, but I do roll my eyes when I see a retired pro that is so shrunk he looks like he's never step foot in a gym (all drugs). Dorian you can at least tell at one point he was massive.

That shouldn't be a Mr O physique right here... His arms are badly damaged unfortunately . . .

The bicep tear from 1994 was not repaired because it was a torn in the center of the muscle not the end of the attachment. It was unrepairable.

The tricep from 1997 was operated on but he had to wait a few months and obviously it was not successful (hence he retired).

The forearms were starting to recede the last few years before he retired just like Cutler, Branch, Gaspari and many others have/did.

Old "no one" should read this thread.
He keeps banging on about how good people have to look now as opposed to what they achieved at their peak.
Daft twat will be calling the likes of Dorian out when he's 80 saying, "what you look like now bro"
