1990 Mr. Olympia ~ drug tested

This was the first year that drug testing was incorporated into the O. Everyone that had been placing in the top 5 (Lee Haney, Lee Labrada,  Rich Gaspari, Shawn Ray.. they all looked like crap, except for one guy.

Have any stories, rumors, etc. ever come out as to why he still looked as good even in a drug-tested show? Were there guys like Balco... maybe Duchaine back then who had found ways to defy the typical protocol?

when they interviewed Haney after the show they asked him.....


''how did you keep so much size when your drug test came back the cleanest of all?''

wtf??   clean or drugged, no in between.   made no sense.   I heard that with the women of that era the testing was based on somewhat of a bell curve.  as long as all the women had similar levels it was fine. but if one was using blatantly more she would fail.

Labrada should have taken that one. He wasn't in great shape but fuck Haney was flat. Mike Christian didn't have a leg to stand on no matter how good he looked.

The buzz at the time was Christian drank some special enzyme blend that Duschane produced to pass the test.
