Linux Mint has worked well for me for about a year.
Linux is strong. It has fought off many whores trying to check my computer.

Mint and Ubuntu are pretty straight forward to get up and using with only moderate computer knowledge.

OK...Downloaded Bittorrent..seems like the simplest one and not too involved.

So now what ?  I DLed and watched the walking dead with zero problems. This AM wanted to DL Pacific Rim...Searched for it (that's correct right?)...and every fucking site wanted me to register this........DL this media player, upgrade that and it was one big circle....how (and where) do you get to what you want to DL...and fucking DL it without all of the bullshit going in circles?

You need to find and download the torrent you are looking for, just go to piratebay http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/8984194/Pacific_Rim_(2013)_DVDRip_XviD-MAX,

You then then need Bittorrent to import the torrent file.  Depending on your settings it may automatically do this (it is advisable when you get the chance to associate .torrent files with BitTorrent so they import automatically to Bittorrent.).  I don't use bittorrent, so I don't know the exact procedure, but I think it is -->File then Add Torrent in BitTorrent (or press CTRL+O) and locate where the torrent file saved too and select it.  Once you have done that it should slowly start downloading as it discovers other seeders/peers.

After the download is complete it is considered etiquette to seed the file back.  Essentially, this just means that you leave Bittorrent open and allow other people to upload the file from you.  The longer you can do this the better. Some people don't do this, they just download the file and then remove the torrent and never seed the file back to the community, this is called a hit and run.  And although you can get away with it using public sites like piratebay, if you do happen to get a private site invite, you are required to maintain a seed ratio.  Good Luck !

Chrome is good for general browsing, Firefox is also good as it allows a lot of addons, like the ability to download youtube videos.  TOR is good if you want to surf anonymously and hide your tracks.  Get a hold of uTorrent for downloading anything you like, Piratebay is still a good public place to download any software, movies, tv shows,XXX or anything else you like, if you are serious about torrents get an invite to a private site, I can help you with that.  For watching video on your laptop, just download VLC video player, it will play almost anything.  If you need commercial software like MS Office or ADOBE Photoshop, these can also be downloaded from sites like pirate bay using uTorrent.  If torrents seem to much of a learning curve, you can download TV shows from EZTV.

torrentz.eu allows you to search thru all these sites at once...

I only say that because the private ones I am part of actually prefer it and there is one that will ban you for usage of other torrent clients.

Anyway....if you want an invite for IP, pm me where to send it.
