I'm not unhappy. Our military sucked in 1941. It was small, not very advanced and not very innovative. But the draft pool was full of tough kids. Farm kids, self reliant kids, just tough people. They are less socialist or nanny state then the two places I mentioned, meaning your correlation is spurious meaning it's a false equivalene. Thus, something else, another variable or the combination of them is creating the situation. Perhaps it is not as simple as you are making it sound, perhaps socialism is a gradient a specturm per se not a binary system.

What is apparent is that the more socialist you are the better you run. Makes sense, since the people get the governments benefits, unlike the us who give them to the corps who then suck the system dry.
