I have said many times on here that had he been NPC and not NABBA, Haney might not have as many Sandows.
. Very possibly!  At the very least, there would have been some epic battles, and I strongly believe Lee would have had to up his game..

I used to read his posts on training and they were just like reading an old issue of Muscular Development...no real world experience at all.

And....DO NOT EVER disagree with him or your posts get deleted.

I forgot who exposed him,but it was a brutal outing and he was never seen again.

I got to be a knowitall idiot (for quite a long time actually) at some point when it came to HIT training.  Now, I don't care to win internet arguments, I just want to train and be in the best shape I can be.  I've seen too many people suffer tragedy with illnesses, addiction, divorce, cheating spouse and death to realize that we don't have as much quality time as we think we do.  It truly is a privilege to train, no matter what the level we get to do it.  

I've made mistakes, especially overeating, thinking as a natural I could eat my way through plateaus, but guess what?  While I did get a whole lot stronger, I got FaT.  Trouble is, my frame hid it well, so good in fact, that I was able to kid myself.  

This weekend, it felt great to try on jeans, and in the relaxed fit, the size 34 was waaay big in the waist.  The 32 relaxed fit did not fit like skinny jeans in the thigh, so I bought them.  At 6'1" and 195, I'm back on track, with still a bit of muscle to gain, and fat to lose.  At my age, with two little girls running the household, that felt good.

Yeah,I used to argue training to the point of ridiculousness also,now I offer my thoughts and possibly advice and leave it up to the person to try it out for themselves.

That being said,I still mix it up here and there if I regress into Pumpster mode.  ;D

Glad to hear you`re back on track and making progress,and yes,it is indeed a privelage to train and to be able to continue to train as we get older.

Wes, I'm not kissing ass here, but you look great.

Plus, you weathered the storm of addiction, admitted you were an asshole during that time, and you came through on the other side.  How many can say the same?  

And, who cares about comparisons with others?

Compare yourself now to where you were when you were at your worst.  And you keep plugging away.  Not to sound cliche, but life (to me at least) is how one deals with adversity.  You get knocked down, and you get back up.  When life knows you are going to keep getting up, life has a way acknowledging your toughness.

Success should be easy to deal with, although there are many modern examples of people squandering success.  Society has bestowed success in modern times on those who frankly deserve no success and even less attention (uh....Kardashians, are you listening?)

Adversity is when you see what people are made of.  The strongest person I currently know is someone I work with.  She has cancer.  She lost her hair.  She went through chemo, multiple rounds.  I was one of two people in her life with whom she confided.  Cancer went into remission for a year.  Her hair grew back.  She barely ever missed work.

Guess what?  It has now metastasised.  Basically, the doctors can hold it off for as long as they can, but little to zero hope of recovery this time.  She came in the other day directly after chemo feeling very sick.  I told her to go home.  She told me she had work to finish before the holiday, and this is what keeps her somewhat sane.  

I don't get so mad after a workout where I did not meet my goal.  I just show up in the gym the next time.

Perspective.

This might not be the best place to post this, but after having two children, a busy job, some hobbies, strength training took a backseat for the first time in my life in roughly 18 years.

A very wise S&C coach once told me that one could get by and be very very well built just doing squats, chins and dips.

Well, because my time was limited, and sleep was a commodity (2 small girls) I did just that starting about 6 months ago.  That is how I got started back, just doing those in my basement, even though I have plenty more equipment to use both at my house and my parents home. 

I cleaned up my diet, and guess what?  Best shape I have been in for a long time. 

I am adding things here and there (deadlifts, curls, tricep pushdowns, calf raises, inclines, lateral raises, etc.), but these are the cornerstone of my training.  I wish I had made these the foundation years ago.
