Favorite form of cardio
« on: February 10, 2014, 10:29:26 AM »
I'm about to turn thirty really soon, the last couple of weeks I've been focusing a bit more on diet and conditioning. In school I was a tiny tit 6'0 around 170-180 did 3 sports a year had incredible conditioning. I ran middle distance and did incredibly well. Well as soon as college was done I was so sick of cardio I've been permabulking for the last 6-8 years. I've put on a great deal of size but I'm no longer the cardio machine I used to be.

I've been jumping rope and using the stepper. When I jump rope I go for one minute and then rest a minute for a total of 20-30 minutes. The stepping mill is my favorite piece of cardio equipment you can go nuts on that that thing for ten minutes and be completely drenched in sweat.

For fat loss what's the best machine? What target heart rate should be shooting for? On the stepper I can quickly get into the high 180s.

Banging your mom and dropping my load on your sister's fat face.

Now fuck off.

Intervals are probably the quickest way to burn the most calories, like what you've been doing with the jumprope.

Our gym has a 1/8 mile track, I like to skip rope for a minute alternated with a lap around the track.

With me, it depends if it is summer or winter. In the winter I do cardio at the gym. In the summer I add climbing stairs outside, playing tennis and basketball. I also dance

Shit that would be great to have an indoor track.

They are great. When I was in college we had one and I would run on it like 5 times a week. Real nice jogging indoors out of the weather.

I found a rec center near where I live now and they have a 1/11 mile indoor track I am going to check it. It you have a gym with indoor track near you I highly recommend.

May through October about 8am I brisk walk down to the beach (0.6 miles) and swim 3 miles in the ocean and then brisk walk back at least three times a week.  This beats the hell out of any cardio machine in the gym.

High intensity interval fucking

Actually this is the real answer. Completely destroys those abs and brings out those hip flexors. Makes awesome ab and lower body tie-ins.

I've already saw the vid (no lame joke)

Excellent core training. As a bonus, corn style provides good fibers.

Same way as me but it's time to worry about heart health for me personally.

"Interval training" is the new "Focusing on Core Strength".

The amount of calories you burn running a mile is more or less invariant with respect to speed, unless you are running at literally maximum effort (like 100 m dash-style), in which case you'll fatigue before you covered nearly as many miles as you would have running at a slower pace anyway.

I'm not saying interval training is a waste of time, it has its place in any well-rounded fitness program, but to argue that it's the fastest way to burn calories as a general statement is silly in my opinion.

I usually just use the cross trainer. Easy on the joints and tends to burn the flab quickly.  8)

well i have done it all believe me cardio wise. I find interval Training very good but i also can run Long distance, interval does improve this too. I suppose the best is to do both. However if i put an unfit Person on a running machine at a powerwalking pace for 1 hour is that better than 30 mins Interval Training?
