He went all out on the Americans, with a complete and total disregard towards cultural differences and opinions. He did this in a patronising manner rather than propose an intelligent argument, I can only applogise to the Americans on his behalf...I was embarassed for him regarldess of my opinions on gun ownership.
True, I could see the point he was trying to make, and I'm on his side regarding firearms and gun laws etc, but yes the way he went about it was all wrong. It was as if he landed on their shores one day and then went to war the next without studying the culture around him.
The right to bear arms is far too ingrained in the culture of the US and you can all but scratch the surface of it without inviting a backlash. If Americans are ever going to put down the guns, this is something that will take decades, maybe even a hundred years or so to bleed out the system, not by some egomaniac on a talk show in a matter of weeks.
