I see this very often - The more is Better attitude
There are many who believe it’s all down to how much they take
Plenty on here with that mindset.
Yup!
I knew plenty of guys in the 70s that took 3 dbol a day and experienced excellent results. They also stopped when not competing because they didn't want to die. From what I recall, Robbie Robinson tried to be "in shape" year round and they didn't work out too well for him as it was reported he had "congenital" heart problems for a while.
Today's guys are never off and they look it. It's been that way since the mid 80s, maybe even slightly before. I've seen Arnold and others from that time when they were "off". Looked like the rest of us and as Arnold's former American girlfriend in an article that was linked here awhile ago, she described it was like he had a hangover when he was off.

Try burned out body instead. The guys at the original Gold's in the 70s told me they took steroids but they also were wary of overdoing it and so they took time away because no one really knew what would happen if you didn't.
Mike Mattazaroo does. Dallas McCarver does. I'd bet a lot of stupid gym rats do too. I know men my age that get HRT and they get just enough to make them feel better both physically and mentally. Common sense in bodybuilding is a freaking super power.
