It's not really a gimmick. It's been around for over 20 years. Garcinia Cambogia was just sold under its key extract, hydroxycitric acid (HCA). Remember that HCA was a key ingredient in the original Hydroxycut (hence the name). Garcinia Cambogia was also sold under the name Citrimax.It works, when taken in high enough doses (1000 mg a serving, 2-3 times daily); but, it's no miracle pill. Diet still needs to be decent.
