Hollywood has no original ideas anymore for films or TV. And when they do have new ideas, they're trash. Take for example: Upcoming film starring Dwayne Johnson and he plays an old man who's best friend is a chicken.
And when they do happen to make a good film/TV show, they roll out a sequel/reboot that's trash and tarnishes the 1st film/original TV show.
Examples include the hunks of garbage: Upcoming Gremlins reboot, upcoming Malcolm in the Middle reboot, and the Karate Kid reboot.
Let's just remake everything!!!!
