Yes, because those of us that train at commercial gyms aren't serious.

probably the stupidest thing you've ever posted

I dunno, I've posted some really stupid shit before. It's hard to argue with you when you post a pic like that, so I will just cede the field.

wouldn't mind having a squat stand and bench, couple of dumbbells

but wouldn't want a huge array of shit

gym is like 2 minutes from my house, by bike, anyway

can't help but respect a guy that keeps it real, I was expecting a defensive, snarky wise ass remark in return....refreshing , someone that doesnt have to "win"

That's a win/win imo

People who want to train at home and save money seldom do either! I could sink a battleship with all the unused home gym equipment. Having equipment at home doesn't mean you will use it.

Then there is the problem of having cheap and maybe unsuitable equipment. Any commercial gym will be far better. There are many clubs that open all night so it is quite an easy matter to

go when few are using the premises.

Isn't the entire gym business model predicated on the idea that most people won't show up after paying their membership fee?

If you want to train, you'll train. A home gym makes training more convenient . Plus there's no reason you can't do both, say a moderate weight day at home, and a heavy day in the gym.

I personally like commercial gyms because it takes premeditated commitment when going to the gym (not true with home gym).  I have to think about what time I am going, what I am going to do, and once I am in my car and on my way I am committed. Besides that, when you pay a monthly fee it makes you want to get your money's worth. I imagine if you pay for a home gym you aren't seeing the recurring costs so the sense of urgency isn't there.

I like the idea of a home gym, probably in an isolated part of my house, in the basement where I can play music and not disturb the family because quite frankly I can do whatever I want when I want.

Yes it got both up and downsides to it.

You will need to be disciplined.

im looking forward to some experimenting, like doing pull ups every day and see what comes of that. Or train calves daily.

The most important part of my home gym is the piano.

Welcome.  Its more fun with steroids.

Once you get really big you can.insult people with impunity...thats the best part IMO.

I Just said to the  GM of my gym not an hour ago ..."if aliens came to our planet, they would think you and I are different species,  and wonder why I haven't killed you and eaten you yet."
