What are peoples opinions on this, originally popularised in a similar form by legendary strength coach Bill Star, the program basically has you doing just deads, squats, bench, rows and missionary press. The school of thought banded around by advocates is that a conventional split routine of doing different bodyparts on different days is a waste of time for someone who doesnt posess substantial mass and also considers isolation exercises pretty much useless, again until you have a good amount of mass.Advocates also argue that a split routine is largely useless for someone who doesnt juice and split routines only came about with the steroid era and Joe Weider mags. Its argued the in the old days people got big from just doing a full body workout 3 times a week and eating big.
The program advocates that getting big, apart from diet, is by consisteently adding weight to the bar on compound exercises. The idea is that you train 3 times a week, picking 3 compound exercises per day and doing 5 sets for 5 reps for each compound exercise.A typical routine consists of below Monday
Squat   5x5
Bench   5x5
Barbell Row 5x5
    Wednesday
Squat   5x5
Incline or Military   5x5
Deadlift   5x5

    Friday
Squat   5x5,
Bench   5x5,
Barbell Row   5x5
Ive simplified the routine above, as light and heavy days are used,% of 1 rep max etc but the basic core is there.seems logical to me,for someone who doesnt and does not plan to take steroids, does this seem like a better program for that person than a split? How about for a split day regular who wants to change their routine? The program in its various forms is sure gathering a following around various forums.
