We probably don't have that kinda pull, to just shut down a region.

Rather, I think they know the "hot spots" for teh disease.  Shutting down a few roads quietly would keep the infected, their families, AND the aid workers on ice for a few days.  Just long enough to ensure the sick die and those with exposure let it pass in that small area.

We have 3000 men there.  They aren't doing "nothing" and they aren't "finger painting with ebola blood".  They're in the middle, and I bet it's what I described.  Common sense containment without a lot lot paperwork/mandates to piss people off.  Shutting down a few roads duringthe last plague could have saved millions of lives, and that was BEFORE air travel.

gunning down escaping idiots at 100 yards

See, we'd prefer that over a bunch of infected idiots

Typical liberal hypocrite.  So now the infected are "idiots"  ::)

If the United States doesn't have the pull to put a moratorium on travel we are essentially sunk. How on earth will sending three thousand troops to monitor the borders of Liberia do a damn bit of good.  There is no way every exit point from Liberia can be covered.  And there are going to be people in the early incubation stages of ebola who appear physically healthy and will be able to exit the country.

i think it's a case of "well, we COULD pull rank and be the big bad USA, demanding this and that... OR we could just watch where the disease is, help out with support, logistics...and yes, if you see 200 people with flesh eating virus getting on a boat headed for elsewhere, maybe you "offer logistical support" and "give them beds" and make sure their asses are motivated to stay right there they are.

I'm not saying it's a big showdown like the movies, nor a need for international paperwork.  I'm saying in "giving out beds" you're also making the sick people STAY IN THAT SPOT, since beds don't have wheels.    De Facto, not de jure.

They're going to create a logistical base for the docs to work out of. By all accounts this thing is out of control. We can help move them around better etc. This is a UN mission that they can't do. The UN is worthless.....

so you think it's a good idea/necessary for the USA to get involved there?

No.....this particular job can be done by the UN....specifically African UN troops. Short of that there are plenty of Latin American militaries that want to deploy and conduct operations. They get training money for this stuff from us and the UN. They would like to deploy to places like A-Stan but aren't ready yet. They are getting pretty good at humanitarian aid missions such as this and this would give them a good experience to build off of. Their job/ our job to provide logistical support to the docs. Set up camps, provide supplies and trans....all can be accomplished by other then US troops.

I'm referring to the untold amounts of illegal, immoral and other crazy shit our nation does whenever the fck we feel like it.

if our leaders decided they wanted to send troops to waste anyone at anytime, they'd do it.

When you say "heyll never shoot anyone in a fucking sovereign nation that were not at war with." - I have to believe they'd shoot whoever their boss tells them to, and it can be any lie used to sell it.   Vietnam was started over a middle mgmt paperwork error regarding gulf of tonken - do you agree with that?  yes or no?
