Gayer than white towel shenanigans? ???

Are you saying you find board shorts gayer than guys wearing thongs and pulling them up their ass crack to show off their glutes?

;D My thoughts exactly.  In all honesty, I heard they were swicthing over to the boxer brief look last year. What in the world could be the hold up?  ??? :'(

You heard a rumor.  The board shorts will never go away.  Men's Physique started because of the success that happened with the bikini division...MP is the answer to that.  Half of the competitors have no legs, and it's even more than half in the NPC.  The promoters want entry fees and the ticket sales that go along with more competitors.  If you're one of the guys considering doing a show when you see your buddy up there, and suddenly the attire is a square cut trunk that displays leg development (as it should be), and you have polio legs, you're not gonna waste your time entering.  The promoters are aware of this, so the board shorts stay. And c'mon, it's obviously just a cattle call.  They don't even compare the competitors.  How can they if there are no mandatories?

For me this is a good and a bad thing. I have genetically shitty legs, but I train them like an animal and they've come up a lot (size-wise, not shape, shape still sucks). On one hand the trunks work in my advantage in that they hide my glaring weak spot, on the other hand all that work I put into my legs is for not (except my own satisfaction, which makes it all worth the hard work for me anyway).

As noted above, Men's physique (a misnomer) was created to mirror the bikini division. Why the board shorts? - just happened to be the fashion in men's swimwear at the time (unlike the bikini, which has been a perennial since it's inception.). The thing is the sexes aren't mirror images- you can't convincingly market men as sex objects- which is basically what the bikini division does.

We fans began calling for men's 'figure' a decade-plus ago and so it was only a matter of time before the PTB listened and gave the fans and lazy MMA-wannabes what they wanted.  There was too much money to be made here. But I don't believe there was a thought - at least within the fan or prospective competitor communities - that they wouldn't wear some sort of brief.  I understand what you're saying about popular fashion and while that does make sense, in theory, when you actually open your eyes and look, it should be pretty clear what a stupid idea it is.

Who's on the current competition committee?

As somebody recently said to me, "Speak for yourself." You don't know what "we" all know because you don't know shit. And that is painfully obviously to anyone reading your posts.

I'm not demanding a full investigation or a blue-ribbon panel or any of that other bullshit.

There needs to be a change.  This is something that the decision-makers should've recognized after the first-ever IFBB men's physique pics were published.  And we fans are still here 2 years later wondering....

Two national judges I have known for years, told me, it was to make MPD a "user friendly" division to get the boyfriends of bikini and figure girls to enter shows with them. $$$$ and entry fees, that's it.
