"I train hard"
« on: February 15, 2006, 09:44:43 AM »
What is this stupidity about "training harder than everyone?"

You can only train your muscles to failure and if you do too many sets you are over-training.

Bodybuilders act like lifting weights is torture when it's fairly easy.

When I hear that phrase it makes me laugh.

I've heard some bodybuilders say that there's no such thing as "overtraining" as well.....and if you think lifting weights is "easy," I think you need to up your intensity quite a bit.

I said I've heard "some" bodybuilders say this, and it's no more stupid than saying some guys train harder than others.  Just look around the gym.  And lifting weights is not "fairly easy" as you say.  I doubt that Dorian or Mentzer ever referred to it in such a way.

He wasn't injured from your definition of over-training involving too many sets. Rather, it was a combo of genetics and very high weight using minimal sets, exacty the opposite of your definition of over-training. Brilliant analysis!

Training briefly but intensely does make a difference.

Bullshit.  He would go to failure, then do extra reps immediately.  Yea, real smart.
You're just trying to get a reaction, can't possibly be so dense as to confuse your definition of volume over-training with HIT, which is the opposite. Duh!

Also his form wasn't exactly proper either.

Smart or not, his methods obviously worked.....and can certainly be defined as training "harder" than most.

Yea but if he trained more properly he would have been the same size minus torn muscles.

how come you know so much about training? even more than people that been doing it for 20+ years on the highest level?
just curious

I would say it's more about intensity and concentration overall.  Being "in the zone" makes for the best workouts IMO.

ok tough guy.
bodybuilders who say there is no such thing as overtraining are STUPID.
Go do 30 sets of squats to failure every week then tough guy.  According to your theory your legs will blow up in size.

Can you even bench 300?
hahahahahahahahahahahaha

This perception is not at all difficult to understand considering the source.....when you're the "queen of the hill" in the "Women Only Room" of the local Gold's the multi-colored, rubber-coated dumbbells and giant swiss balls don't pose much of a threat.
