There is no crushing of the shoulders, and probably not of the ribs and pelvis.
The snake eats it's food head first, and must dislocated/stretch it's jaws. The human body is awkward to swallow due to the shoulders. Most animals don't have a shoulder girdle like humans---they don't "collapse" per se. So the snake's head has to be big enough to comfortably stretch over the shoulders, or it will not eat the prey. This means that the snake would have to be a big snake.
