Guard Dogs Experts
« on: December 09, 2014, 07:30:58 AM »
I am in talks with my dad and we will be buying a farm in a third world country as a business between us. This said third world country is also a decent holiday destination the land has a small house which we can renovate into a modern small style villa...but I was thinking about guard dogs for the secluded villa area, I don't have much experience in this field as I always owned shitty dogs like daschunds, shitzus and shizzos.

I'm happy to fork out some cash for a solid breed that won't eat the neighbours children or my mum. I had Fila Braziliero in mind, I hear they are loyal and family orientated and if raised with a few members of family he will chew on any strangers coming close as an instinct.

The other breed I had in mind is Tosa Inu, to sum it up I'm thinking a large and in charge working dog. I'm open to having one up to three dogs at once. I'm not sure about pits as they are bred for fighting and small medum sized prey can trigger them like children and sheep and chickens...etc and they are good at jumping fences and gates, I don't want to be getting calls from abroad about them running wild causing trouble like a pack of American hebrews.

A security guard will only cost you a few hunnerd a month.

Just get somewhere for him to crash & you are good.

You'll have to pay someone to care for the dogs and in my experience, dogs are very easily 'taken care of' with a bit of poisoned meat - seen that many times out in this 3rd world country!

Basically, if someone wants your shit, they'll just kill the dogs.

Ya pay a couple locals to watch the place. Depending how bad this country is one dog isn't going to stop a few 7.62's

How about a Boerboel? They are genetically inclined to chase the Hebrew and have seen the elephant (literally and figuratively) in some of the nastiest places in Africa.

It's all about the dog and training, not the breed ... Having said that, mals and GSDs seem to be the the best candidates for protection dogs

http://www.redwoodkrest.com/rottweilers/sale/personal_protection_dogs_forsale.html

^^ look at the specs on some of those for an example, our Rotties mom came from that kennel back when he was a Rottie breeder

The would be trained not to take poisoned bait from brews trying to rob you.

some good points

however in a lot of those countries the guards can be bought off cheaper than the dogs

if it was me id either shell out for a professional non native guard

or mix the dogs in with a handler conductinf patrols

Just get a several local dogs, most dogs are protective to their home. Getting expensive guard dogs can endanger the local people, causing them to poising or steal your dogs. No need to get expensive huge dogs, invest in a good alarm system and local dogs is enough.

Yes.  Dogs only scare off the casual thief, like a teenager.  They are really a poor substitute for a good security system.

Depends on which third world shit hole it is.

In Asian countries, the concept of face is important and if you do it right, you will have a guard that cannot be paid off.

But buying a farm in a third world country as a business is a very bad idea anyway.

skorps going to be getting ripped off from all angles if he does this.

Cane Corso, Presa Canario, Neopolitan Mastiff, Bull Mastiff.

Or go with Rott, Doberman.
