Extremely sad and unnecessary, but I don't blame America's "love my guns" culture. It was a dumbass parent who should've been more careful. Kid who shot him will be fucked for life.
^^ exactly. Another "law" requiring people to lock up their guns means nothing. Who enforces it? Will cops do random house checks from now on to ensure every gun is locked up...will they check the age of each kid to ensure the specifics of the law are enforced? Will they look for other "signs of law breaking" when they're in the house? See where this leads?
Maybe it was just negligence that the gun was found by the kid...but it could have been any weapon or blunt instrument. It's sad but it's also the consequences of bad judgment for that family and I imagine they're suffering pretty badly. Sometimes tragic shit just happens.
What's not needed are more laws restricting my ownership of guns.
