Why do guys do this on the leg press (video)

If I was a gym owner I would kick anyone out who did this, it's just so pointless

I agree. Guys posting invalid YouTube links while on the leg press deserve to be kicked out of the gym.

i think people who load 10 to 12 plates per side and unrack it to 1/4 inch reps should be tossed out...

What gets me is why do you need to get someone to sit on the top of the leg press

I see guys loading up the leg press all the time quarter reps less than quarter reps even.
Two guys spotting them

Ask them to go even one rep with 315 in the squat rack even 225, can't do it

Ego lifters ....most I've gone after my knee injury is 9 plates a side and I can get 8 or 9 decent reps.

Without hands on my knees. Which it's another idiot thing guys do

knee holders really..sad..and wrapping them and still using  hands on knees...

There are a group of guys that train in my gym load up the leg press knee wraps 2 guys on either side spotting
One behind the guy pushing him down in the machine 1/8 range reps hands in knees screaming

.. I just laugh to myself

When i was in a gym, a long time ago, there was an old guy who would kneel on the floor and use the leg press back rest to do Scott curls.
And he did a lot of sets, leaving the bar over the seat between sets.

I used to do the same thing  , same weight  + 210lbs training partner , knee to the chest ,3 sets of 10 , now I can't even lift  half of that weight .

Most guys in the gym use a range of motion like that. Other guys keep the back board high so their knees hit their chest when they are barely bending their knees.  The whole point of any exercise is to see how much stress you can put on the muscles to make them adapt and grow. I concentrate on how much I bend my knees.

The range of motion debate is an endless one. I LOL at powerlifters when they tell others how to lift; they simply forget that not everyone has the same goal. Full ROMs or partials, when it comes to hypertrophy, you have successful examples in both camps.

i saw toney freeman do legpress in a video and he says "no need to go deeper than that, not if youre as tall as i am", what does he mean by that?

I use last setting on seat ,knees to chest and as I get heavier I go down slower and then not quite to full lockout on top,,i think hi reps are best for them tbh...
