SPIKE TV AND WEIGHTLIFTING
« on: February 23, 2006, 05:11:33 PM »
Why doesn't Bodybuilding try to get something going with spike tv?  I don't mean bodybuilding events which come off "gay" to most men that don't know anything about the sport but something along the lines of in the weight room...Maybe something like the old american muscle with less or no bodybuilding and more in the gym "stuff"????...

I think bodybuilding used to be good and they looked like champions. But know adays I don't think the general public is gonna like what they see! I don't even like what i see today! All that abuse of substances, the pregnant woman bellies and all the homosexuals things associated with it really ruin bodybuilders reputations. If it was based more on characters like Richard Jones, Lee Priest or Melvin Anthony than it would be more interesting!
just push some weight!

Weightlifting is still for most of the world the ability to lift weights overhead in the two classical lifts i.e. the snatch and the clean and jerk. Despite what powerlifters say weightlifting is a better measure of starting strength, explosive strength, full body flexibility and vertical jump. Everybody prefers watching a human against a weight rather than a powerlifter wrapped up in yards of denim doing quarter range of motion squats and shirt presses with a dozen spotters.
Bodybuilding is an activity in which steroids + nutrition is the biggest determinant of success. Bodybuilders spend more time discussing drug regimens and diet tips than technique, periodization, intensity and cycling. Which leads me to conclude that bodybuilding is even further away from being called a sport than hot dog eating contests.

Some amazing strength.

Makes better viewing than Jay Cutler doing cable crossovers.
