I've funded 6 different kick start projects.  Only 2 have delivered.  The rest must have taken all the money and ran.

It's difficult to bring a kickstarter project to fruition. There are scams, but it's not that hard to see how a lot could go wrong. The funding goal for this thing was $50,000. It will likely make a good deal more, but there are so many issues that pop up when taking a prototype into production, especially on such a modest figure.

What about incline bench?

Great idea, though.

Totally pointless.  Why not just use a regular power rack with a regular bench and set the pins right at your chest or just a little below?  Whats so difficult about that?

What a good idea.

I'll love it if it becomes a gym staple, just to watch the morons who will load up the bench with weight  they can't handle or when they hit the release lever on accident.

It will make smith machine accidents look like the model t.

The bar would just roll down anyways.

If you max out on a regular power rack with the bars set at your chest, you are still trapped under the weight. Also, if you are using strict form, the bars will be an obstruction.

I usually roll my eyes at new gym inventions, but these are a good idea. On the home gym side, the power rack will always win out, but in a commercial gym setting, I can see swapping out the regular benches for these. It takes the guess work out of most of the elements of spotting. Granted, it won't stop most of the "roll out of your hands" catastrophes like a power rack can.

This is something that I've been curious about. Where did you find them? Is there any way to research?  Do you think any of the ones you funded might ever work out?

With a target audience of benchers pressing between 350 and 400, I suspect they'll easily sell 50 or less.

They're building them. Just checked, they reached their goals -

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/754670088/maxx-bench-first-ever-gravity-release-bench-press .

Curious about maximum loads/build strength. Price wise they're around 50% - 100% more expensive than other commercial options. For those curious, and willing to gamble, they're offering some good price breaks to early backers.

Truth. I been had before. Now I just wait to see if the product actually comes out. I don't mind if I have to spend a few bucks more.
Yet, I'm very tempted to fund this one.
