Andy Bolton takes back the deadlift record
« on: March 06, 2006, 12:38:45 AM »
Most of you probably dont care, but he took back the record.  I beleive it was 971.  There was some confusion about it so if anyone knows the exact number please let us know.  Great lifter.

Actually I like deadlift maxes.. atleast they aren't like 1 inch "legal" bench presses with multi ply shirts.

Got a video?

That's the kind of stuff that really gets me fired up!  971 is inhuman.

The meet's not over until the bar hits the floor, or something like that.

Jeff Everson said that Andy would be the first one to Deadlift a grand (1000# for the dummies). I think he put up a $10k reward of sorts in Planet Muscle, since he's so sure. So far, it's close to who will get there, but Andy is only 29# away!

Dammmmm his arms must dangle down to the ground by lifting so much weight , why would he bother to try and lift so much , why not just leave it where it was , it wasnt in the way of any one !!!!!!

What makes it even crazier is that his bench and squats were not token lifts, but rather he was going for the overall win.  He is much more immpressive than Benni Magnusson who is a one trick pony but is neck and neck with Bolton for that 1000 dead

One trick pony? The guy is 22 years old and he's already deadlifted 968 pounds. His best total is only about 2400 ish, but he's got a long way to go before he peaks. Andy is in his mid 30's and is probably at his peak right now.

Wow... HUGE DL. The last remaining lift of the big three, that has not been turned into a joke via suits-wraps-shirts-halflifts-quarterlifts-etc. His grip strenght must be crazy... as well as the obvious; back, traps, erectors, quads, etc.

I just checked www.irongame.com and they don't have any video yet.

BUT I did find something there that you don't see every day--some guy pressing 445 lbs:

Nice one. Finnish Jari Leino did press some reps with 440 lbs, sitting down and pressing behind the neck. He was a pro bodybuilder, 6th at the Finnish GP -90.
He used to be also a contender in strongmen-competitions, and his dead lift record is 542,5kg at -89. Lift was under the knee- lift, which make it easier to accomplish, but that is still a lot ;)

One time my girlfriend went crazy and stuffed like four large suitcases with all of her stuff - shampoo, conditioner, gifts, cosmetics, lead crystals, powerblocks, you know - all that girly stuff. Not taking anything away from this Bolton guy, but I lifted those four suitcases off the ground and they had to weigh at least 975 lbs. Yeah, yeah, I know you haters are gonna say -- Doesn't Count! It wasn't in an actual competition, but there were witnesses at the airport and the hotel and somewhere out there is a phone camera video of the lift.

Just thought you guys should know.

Those aren't real weights dude. I can't believe you believed that. Every other 45 in that video was plastic. So it was a 405 DL that Ronnie did. I can do that in the nude with one arm.

Is he using one of those dumbass WPO bars, where they are extra long and flimsy and let you lift more?

Andy is a Freak, i met him this week at the Arnold. I even worked with him on his bench technique in the Animal Cage on Sunday. Nicest guy you would ever meet.
