That just says that there was a lawsuit about it. It doens't say they actually won.

I knew the Ferrigno family well in Brooklyn, NY. There was always an edge to this
family. I had breakfast with Lou and his son at the 04 Olympia. I remember speaking to Lou and his boy. We got around to talking about family. I told his son that there is nothing more important in life than the bond of family, and when all others have turned
their backs on you your family will always be there. I hope Lou sees this post and
remembers that he strongly agreed with me. Bad feelings should not be taken to
the grave. Life is much too short.

Listen I told you what happened. Rorian is an attorney (not to say that means much) but he is smart about business. This happened back in the early 90's. I know it happened. I know he was chargin a fee for other Gracies to use the name. He had the trademark. It was taken as a martial arts school category and I think clothing which is Int. Class 025. Not sure about the schools class. I don't know how long this lasted or what the ultimate conclusion was but I do see numerous Gracie schools out there so something was worked out.

Yes you can sue someone else if they are using your name in their business only if you have the name trademarked, or copyrighted.

For example, Microsoft sued a teenager in USA; for his own personal website that had his name as the websites address, but when you sounded it out it sounded exactly like Microsoft. The dude's name was Mike crowsoft or something along those lines. In the end the dude had to close down his website because of it. This happened back a good ten years or so ago. I'm sure you can find it on google some where.

Same thing with StarBucks Coffee, some Canada native town Coffee up north in B.C. had bucks in its name and was sued by StarBucks for it.

You are right you can ignorance, but it will cost you bigtime. Microsoft are a little bigger than Lou and have more of a leg to stand on as clearly the kid's primary intention was to deceive in order to profit from the deception.

There may be more to the ferrigno story though, it depends if they were using Lou's likeness in any of their ads or anything.

i live about 15 miles from lou's bro and recently went to his store he has great prices by the way. the latest on this is it was written up in the local paper the morning call. apparently lou took exception to the awnings and some of the inside of the store because it was painted green, and lou apparently owns the hulk in his mind. the paper goes on to say andrew probably earns far less than lou.
