I vividly remember the shock of meeting some of the 'smaller' Pro's for the first time back around the beginning of the 90's... David Dearth, Momo, Thierry Pastel and Steve Brisbois. Up til that point, based on the illusion of size they presented in the mags you could have told me they were 5'8" upwards no problem...

I've heared several times already that Gunther in his prime was one of the most impressive pros in person.

While people were stating over and over how disappointed they were when they saw some shorter Top pros in person (in a hoodie they could pass almost as average gymrats), Gunther in a tanktop with his height and width made jaws drop all over the place.

I got on the plane with him going to Ohio, heading to the Arnold Classic one year. He had to pay for 2 seats because he was so wide. He was a monster back then. Inside the airport he was treated like a rock star. I have never seen so many people ask a guy to take a pic with them, and they had no idea who he was.

I thought he should have won the Olympia that year, but what do I know.
I saw Gunter guest pose live once and was blown away at just how BIG he was.
Great personality and lit up the room when he walked in.
Sadly, he came off as stiff and awkward when trying to act in movies.
