Too bad it doesn't look like that when its served to you. I have not been to McDonalds in a LONG time, but what they serve you, never looks like the actual item advertised. It looks more like this:

I have not eaten McDonalds in over 2 years. After I run out to do some errands, I may grab a few burgers from McDonalds. I am curious how they taste these days. But I am more tempted to get a better burger from Shake Shack or Smash Burger. Decisions, decisions.

Smash Burger is pretty damn good. I like Habit and In-N-Out better, but Smash is definitely a good burger joint.

I bring one of the real small bottles of Tabasco in my sweat pants if I choose McDonald's for my weekly cheat meal.
I split up where I go, sometimes Chinese, Sushi, Pizza, Burgers, Indian Buffet, Bar & Grill, whatever I'm most feeling/craving for on that Sunday...

Well, yeah, they're different categories. McDonalds actually can't be that good, for various reasons. It's more important that their food be consistent in certain categories.  Smash is much better than even 5 Guys. There are all these high-style/mid-brow fare places popping up in NYC, like the Melt Shop and  Fuku. I haven't had Chick-fil-A in at least 20 years, but that line is too long every time I walk past it.

It is. I just had a Shake Shack burger. Id say they are about equal in taste, but the fries from Shake Shack are better than Smash Burger.

See...this kinda partly goes to what I was saying earlier about McDonald's dubious morality. I mean, I'm not anti-business or anti-capitalism, but  when you're one of the 3 largest employers in the country ,the largest buyer of livestock, the majority of your workers barely make a living wage and some of your most popular items are essentially loss leaders, you're perpetuating this cycle of false affordability that plays a big part in crippling a certain class. The same goes for a business like Walmart. I can appreciate the democratization of goods and services, but when you compare how McDonald's is run vs  Shake Shack or even In-N-Out and Chik-fil-A, there's such a difference.

And in practical terms, if McDonald's wasn't so cheap, it would HAVE to taste better.

When I go out to eat with my buddy (Arcidi) all the time, he takes along his favorite bottles of steak sauce, salad dressing, etc... Pretty funny...

I agree. If I want a good burger, I will go to Five Guys.

Or anywhere else, like Smash Burger, Shake Shack, etc. Id rather pay a little more for a good tasting burger.

Not sure what's going on in Vancouver,  but in the United States,  Five Guys makes a tasty burger.

Sometimes I get a taste for a good burger. Sometimes I get a taste for McDonald's.

Maybe for variety, but I think one of the reasons so many people are critical of McDonald's as "fake food" is because so much of it is almost unrecognizable as what it's supposed to be. Even without knowing anything about the company, it's exceedingly artificial seeming. Anytime I eat McDonalds, I am hyper-aware of how it is scientifically concocted to have a certain crispy/greasy mouthfeel, not be too flavorful and how it's going to be almost stomach-turning if not eaten within the hour. There are better burgers than Five Guys, but I'll take it over McDonalds anyday.
