yeah, i mean look at all those contests he entered. The Arnold, the O, the O, the O, the O again...........the O.........hold on a minute, looks like he entered nothing but the Olympia for about 10 years! 
with the politics in the sport is it any wonder he never won more (1992 Olympia was a definite)
As for his personal life, regardless of what he gets up to i fail to see how it is any of our business? This board is about BBing and in that context there isnt a solitary bad word i can say about Shawn Ray. The man was the personification of symmetrical and aesthetical perfection for over a decade. What he does in his own time doesnt affect the fans in any way
It doesn't matter if he mostly entered the Mr Olympia , he shouldn't have placed all his eggs in one basket , always a bridesmaid and never a bride , he entered the smallers shows and did well , in 1990 he " won " the Arnold Classic and failed the diuretics test , and he also won the Iroman and in 1991 he won the Arnold Classic and that was it , in 1996 he entered the Arnold and placed 5th , the Ironman he placed 3rd , in 14 years as a Pro the best he could manage was 2 Professional wins? thats not great by any standard
Well you can say " he always came in shape " he supposed its his job , and you can also say " he was top 5 for the Mr Olympia in all the times he competed " again he was consistant and that should be applauded but great ? I don't think so , compare that to Lee Labrada who has 8 Professional wins in 10 years and NEVER placed below 4th in a Mr Olympia contest with two runner-up spots
In the 5 times Shawn & Lee competed in the same Mr Olympia , Lee beat Shawn 4 times out of 5 , couple that with 6 more wins now who is really great? Lee was much more of a Professional than Shawn , he never bitched about his placings , the only reason people go on about how great he is , is becuase he was great at marketing himself as great , with Labrada he was more low-key he didn't constantly brag about how good he was or how he was ripped-off or how the Mr Olympia was his destiny
Compare Ray to Flex who won more shows in his rookie-year then Shawn did in 14 years , Levrone won the same ammount of Pro shows Shawn did in his whole career in his rookie-year !! so all this talk about how great Shawn is , is in my opinion not waranted , excellent bodybuilder , excellent competitor , the title great is reserved for others far more deserving .
