Promoters who treat the bodybuilders with respect.
« on: March 10, 2006, 01:15:20 PM »
It seems like everything posted on these boards get read by all the officials, judges, promoters, publishers, etc, etc, so getbig is an excellent way to actually provide some incentive to these people to do their jobs well.

That having been said, which promoters treat the bodybuilders with respect and which do not?

I've heard good things about the ASC and Tony Doherty and his Aussie show.  The Bulk Nutrition Charlotte Pro obviously gave the pros more money than the show even generated - if Shawn plays his cards right hopefully his show can pay out just as much and actually recup those costs.

So who makes the list (either one).

I'd trust Mike McCandless aka 1Fast400 to take care of the fans and pros at any show, before taking care of himself.  Trust.

DeMilla- His shows will do well no matter what it takes... no limits.

Shawn Ray... well... time will tell.

This is a great thread to roast the promoters who treat the pros like shit.

Remember how Shawn kept bitching about the Ironman prize money?  It's because the majority of pros are not good at marketing themselves or insisting on a fair deal.  I wonder if they would even be able to sell their own DVDs if I wasn't going around the web doing it for them.

But the pros are pros at gaining muscle.  Sometimes outside sources are needed to help them with the other things.

Yeah Tony Doherty does deserve praise. His shows are usually guite good, and we always hear from the Pros how much they appreciate it. Did pretty well under tough circumstances last year, with a poor Australian Pro line up and the withdrawal of Craig Titus who was supposed to do a seminar for people who bought the VIP tickets.

Plus his gym is pretty awesome as well. Did awesome in getting Ronnie down just one week after the Olympia in good condition. Thanks TD

Doesent Onlyme promote shows ???

Yes I did.  I did one in 2002 and 2003.  When I do things I like to do them big.  And that is a mistake sometimes and sometimes not.  I brought in more than 10 BB's and other celebs including, Kazmaier, Kickinger, Downing, Flex, Shawn, Nasser, Boeving, Bennett, Palumbo, Bas Rutten and others. I paid for the wives to come to Hawaii.  I brought them in up to a week early so they could have fun and see the island.  I took them on a VIP tour of Pearl Harbor,  Took them to the military bases.  Let them have fun.  That first show cost $190,000 for 3 days and was held at the new Hawaii COnvention Center.  I gave every competitor a free t-shirt I had made special just for the competitors.  I had the plates on the statues made after the contest with their name and weight class on it.  I even catered food for the pump up room.  We had banners hanging in the airport terminals welcoming people.  I had 8' tall 3D pictures made of Nasser, Flex and maybe Shawn (can't remember).  We planned on 30,000 people to show.  Only 6,000 paid.  Bad weekend I picked.  Too many things happening on Memorial Day weekend in Honolulu.  But, it was done first class even if we did have a few mixups but nothing serious.  The expo was setup great just like I said not enough people.  The Gracie Jiu Jitsu event had 140 competitors.  I think if the people woud have come I would have kept doing the show but couldn't eat it to long.

Ya he seemed like a smaller guy. Funny how the tv does really make people look different. Good luck with the show.
