I think the MLK holiday was a good idea and honors a principled man.
His key phrase seems to have been lost in translation by many younger blacks.
He dreamed of a day when a man would judged NOT by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.
Over the years, I've had conversations with plenty of black folks about MLK day.
When I lived in La. many sincere blacks cautioned me to avoid going downtown for the MLK parade.
They reminded me that this was, after all , a day for black folks. Hmmmm?
I guess I don't see it the same way, but...?
