Our Industries Integrity
« on: March 12, 2006, 09:39:17 AM »
Wanna hear some interesting stuff?

I am trying to maintain some sort of integrity in the industry that cannot follow rules. Fair enough - we all like being misfits at some point but Saturday night was a whole other level of questioning.
After analyzing the evening, I had found an absurd amount of people that had tried a "grease attempt" trying to slip someone cash for VIP entrance and also other fun stories of people that didn't want to be seen in the regular line that attempted to pay $50-100 (instead of $25) to "be seen" in the guest line. 90% didn't seem to think that they should be paying a Charity party ticket and to make it even worse industry people wanted to crash other companys private parties that they compete with.
I have done stuff with other industries too and I have never seen anything like it.
Will the real VIP's please stand up!

hehehe ;D

LOL..are you freaking kidding me? This industry lost what little integrity it had years ago. Start with promotors and judges integrity first and then worry about the BS later. Your priorities are backwords!

The problem is that it really doesn't take that much cash to get started in this industry.  REAL business people don't run these companies, meatheads do.  I would say I actually respect about 10-15 people in this industry, that's it.

It's hard to maintain integrity in an industry where members compromise it everyday by taking illegal substances.

"Gear shouldn't be illegal so it's ok that I break the law, as long as I don't sell it or do Crystal Meth, I'm ok" ... etc.

We compromise our integrity everyday from the stuff we do relative to bodybuilding.

The industry is comprised of people with little to no integrity. Where's the integrity involved in selling muscle milk? It's a "health promoting" product that rips off consumers so the owners can make a lot of money. That's true with most supplements, it's like me selling Brocolli for 20 bucks at the Arnold Expo because it "makes you feel better".

Yeah, I agree with you Mr. 1fast400. I know that you have dealt with the same issues. Too much politics and a lot of meatheads in the industry that don't want to act like grown-ups. BTW - thanks for attending man - I did catch a glimpse of you. Didn't think you'd make it!

Wait a second...this Jason Dhir party promoter has 5 BLUE stars and Vinnie "Da Pro" Galanti only has TWO YELLOW stars??

You're right! This industry DOES lack integrity.

The stars represent those who are pros or those who work in the pro industry.  Vinne a great guy but he hasn't turned pro yet.  I would consider him an expert, I suppose.  I wonder who makes those decisions anyway???/

If real business people were running the supp companies, there wouldn't be an IFBB, because real business people woulsn't waste money on "athlete" endorsements and show sponsorships, not when 80-90% of the people who workout and buy supplements are doing it for their own vanity and could care less about the IFBB and their pros, if they've even heard of them at all.

Remember when, I think it was Lonnie Teper went around asking people on the streets who would win Mr. O.?   One guy said Gary Coleman.   lol   Another guy said Arnold..

Aren't you the same guy that promised a free archived web cast of the show you promoted only to back out of it later and cry about how much money you lost on that show ?

Yes, I'm the guy the put the first ever FREE live webcast of a show.  This wednesday/thursday the article will be printed as to why we lost so much many.  Many things were outside of our control.  That being said, we need to do what we can to help recoup funds.

Maybe I should have been like other people that do shows.  Don't offer webcast for free.  Don't do a DVD of the event.  Those that do, will charge a HELL of a lot more than 10.00, especially for a two disc set.  The problem with my show is that I tried to treat people like real professional athletes.  I should have just held the event in a high school auditorium, let them change in bathrooms and had tons of tacky ass banners all over the stage.
