He said in all honesty that Aaron looked very ordinary when doing his turns in the open round (symmery round). Guys like Yates and Levrone had killer quater turns and relaxed poses, But Baker looked very plain compared to the other top guys.

He said that Baker was incredible during the muscularity round at any show he competed in. When he flexed he exploded. But he lost lots of points in the symmetry round DESPITE having great symmetry! He just didnt look great when standing relaxed.

He did state that there were some other factors that people claimed held Baker back.......things that took place off the stage......but he mainly just didnt score well in the opening round.

I talked to a historian today.

It seems Alfred Landon only carried 37% of the popular vote in the 1936 Presidential Election because he lacked the progressive programs required to improve the post-Depression economy.

HTH.

That, and he just couldn't seem to get cut enough to show striations in his glutes.  :-\

They didn't take hamstring training seriously enough back then, and it led us into WWII.

In reading contests reports back in the day, I can recall reading that Aaron looked "soft" in the symmetry round, but looked awesome in the muscularity round.

The fact that he "looked soft" in the first round was noticed by a few people, and no doubt cost him points.

He should have had a much better career than he did, but of course the politics of the WBF "migration" saw to it that he didn't :-\.

I spoke with that same Historian. He informed me that there are threads about Gary Strydom, Lee Haney, Dorian Yates, Arnold, Ferrigno, Mentzer, Platz, and "pros fron the mid 90's" on Getbig all the time.

He believes that a thread about Baker should fit in well on this gossip board.

Really, the only thing that lifted us out of the Great Depression was a return to compound movements like the squat and deadlifts.

I often wonder... If the Axis had perfected AAS use just a tad faster than we managed to find a way to harness the power of fission, would we all be speaking German right now?

I don't know about that, but there's no question we won the cold war because we had moved on to 'slin, GH, and diuretucs while the Soviet block was still fuccking around with dbol-only cycles for its East German "female" athletes.

I talked to an IFBB pro who told me why Jocelyn Pelletier didnt place lower...

according to my "top secret" source, there is no place lower than last and seeing how Pelletier's muscles just don't have that pop, he's unable to move up in the standings. Hence, according to my IFBB pro friend, the symmetry round and the muscularity round both cost Pelletier higher placings.

 The correct answer is

                                          W-B-F

Almost all the guys that switched over were penalized for years and the most glaring was Baker. No way he should have placed as low as he did, the guy was a monster and a good poser. Hell hath no fury like the IFBB....

I think it was even cheaper, seeing protein powder was cheaper back then.

I think many a great bodybuilders never got there dues.  Its all in who you suck or if you are the biggest.....I dont mean down there because by then it probably is the smallest.....:)  Tom Platz should have been Mr.O in 81.  Not enough sucking? Too small of dick.......it will always remain a mystery.  Or maybe no bitch tits.....lol.

baker seems kinda an enigma.

he did place well, but at shows like the ironman, san jose, etc.  he got what he deserved at the bigger shows against better  bbers.

he wasnt the biggest or the best conditioned, so he was kinda stuck.  he had good shape and fullness to his muscles but lost to bigger guys and/or better conditioned guys.

blantant eisclene usage.

I believe it.I have just thought about it like this. In relax pose,he is nothing. But,his double bi,unbelievable!
Especialy, his arms are the biggest I have seen in my life.(No exagerate.)
I see Paco many times but still Aarons arms are bigger.
