Politics are too complicated for people to just serve single terms.  I can't imagine the mess the entire country would be in if you had Joe The Plumber types winning congressional seats every new election.

12 years total seems to make sense. Long enough to make a difference, not so long as to be able to be bought.

That is reasonable.

Me personally, I don't think the will of the people should be denied due to an arbitrary length of time.  The other checks and balances are in place, (and laws) to ensure we never get into a dictatorship so therefore term limits, in my view, are somewhat against the idea of direct democracy.

So there is that.  How come you don't want to see his birth certificate?  I don't get the logic back when they were giving Obama nonsense for being born in Kenya, (he wasn't), but lets suppose he was.  If you take Republican logic today, it would not matter since his mother was US born.
