He traded longevity of health, strength and muscle for short-lived competitive glory by using and abusing drugs. Working dramatically past his natural potential. Not a little. A LOT.
If it was worth it to him, great.
Having said this, he should adopt the Rich Piano tactic of NEVER raising arms into a front biceps pose. Each man for different reasons. Rich because his arms are simply bags of oil and look beyond obvious, even to the ignorant, when doing so; Coleman because, well, he has sad biceps and completely invisible triceps.
Better yet, Ron should just wear a normal shirt with sleeves and preserve perhaps a degree of legacy/dignity. No one who wants to meet him/have a photo taken doesn't not know he's broken and deteriorated in the extreme. It's for how he once looked.
